Introduction

Good evening.

Every now and then, someone asks about the difficulties of traveling in "Morrowind", and as someone who has never played an ES game until now, I am in the same boat. "Morrowind" is my first "Elder Scrolls" game EVER, and I am not having THAT much trouble with finding stuff.

One thing I have immediately realized that makes this series so great is that ALL of the installements, and yes, that includes "Skyrim", have MASSIVE amounts of books and stories to read. If you aren't prepared to literally read a game, you are going to have a very bad time in this series. Even "Skyrim".

That said, I might have the advantage of "Morrowind" being my first time trying to cross the border with Todd Howard, so allow me to share some of the things I have learned.
How to Navigate

1. You do have a compass. Use it well! The little arrow in the bottom-right corner shows you what direction you are facing. The cardinal directions are specifically aligned perfectly, as is your map. I have constantly used that arrow, and the World Map marking places, for travel, and with those two I have successfully found remote locations. Simply moving my little arrow around by facing different directions, and then opening the World Map to see if I am facing correctly, has made navigation a breeze for me.

2. Signage is clearly and visibly marked. The signs never lie and they are easy to spot. Read each one when you see it. Many Quests use them as landmarks.

3. Certain NPC's can transport you by land, sea, or teleportation. Every time you see one, and they all look the same, you can ask each of them where any other stop is. By land, you want Silt Striders. You can't miss a thirty foot bug. By sea, go northwest from Pallet Tow- ahem, from Syda Neen until you reach the first city with a dock. The captain there takes you elsewhere. By teleportation, you have Mage Guild characters, who are always inside buildings that say "MAGE GUILD" on it.

4. EVERYTHING is marked in your Journal, in chronological order. If you click the "OPTIONS" button, you can actually search for topics alphabetically! It's all in there, ready for you to pick it up.
Conclusion
Follow this advice and you shouldn't have any problems finding what you need. Remember to constantly check your position and direction on the Map!

While I would certainly prefer quest markers, the lack of them in "Morrowind" has only been mildly annoying to me. Adding them in "Skyrim" was an extremely good quality-of-life change and I'd like to see MW have them too.

Hopefully, this Guide will help newcomers like me get familiar with navigation.

Hail the Emperor.

P.S.: I apologize for not having any pictures or better details. I am writing this past midnight on the last day of my vacation and, as of writing, I had no good reference points on my laptop.
