Credit to @Fencible for the 'More Beams' mod, without it, this project would've died quickly early May. The mod isn't crucial for playing with the trains, but it's the only way to get good 90 and 180 turns:

Please note that all the horizontal hinges on the carriages should have their hinge lock on, this is to help with coupling. You'll want to disable the hinge lock before driving (after coupling).

Also, the button directly behind a carriage's coupler toggles the merge block.
