Free Aiming

描述
Free aiming for ranged combat and spells incl. free movement while aiming (new animations). Head shots are critical hits. Projectiles have variable trajectory, gravity and damage.

Settings
Free aiming is available in two configurations that are accessible from the game menu.

OFF
Use Gothic's traditional auto aiming
BALANCED
Free aiming in balanced configuration
REALISTIC
More difficult with additional modulators on accuracy:
  • If the bow is not drawn to its full extend (see reticle animation),
    • the shooting distance decreases (faster gravity drop)
    • the accuracy decreases (lower hit chance)
    • the damage output is reduced
  • If the crossbow is not held steadily, i.e. no mouse movement (see reticle animation),
    • the accuracy decreases (lower hit chance)
    • the damage output is reduced
  • The crossbow has a weapon recoil (vertical camera shift) depending on the player's strength.
  • Moving while shooting reduces the accuracy by 20%

In your Gothic installation in Steam you find a file called Gothic.ini, e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Gothic II\System\.

@SpyrosChr this mod here allows switching the controls between Gothic1-style and Gothic2-style. Have a look at the link in the description under "Further Configuration". If the Gamepad mod additionally offers to change the button mapping, I cannot tell you.

Hello, I'm using the Gamepad mod alongside this one. I pull out the bow with L2 (using a PS5 controller), but then I'm forced to use Circle to draw the bow and shoot, which makes aiming with the right stick really awkward. Is there any way I can map drawing the bow to another button? It's the only issue I have right now.

@Lesath possibly the spell is implemented not conforming to how Gothic's focus collection is setup. The free aiming strictly sticks to Gothic's definitions to decide if a spell supports free aiming (e.g. fireball) or should not (e.g. light, or teleport) depending on its targeting definitions.

@mud-freak well I'm playing Nostalgic Edition which I think is the only mods which adds features afaik. I'm using other mods but are more like plugins than anything.

@Lesath thanks for reporting. There is no native telekinesis in Gothic 2. Is that a mod you are using? Could you send me the name/link? Maybe this could be fixed.

Telekinesis does not work with this mod enabled. You need to turn it off in the game menu prior to use properly.

@Zeyn depending on your control scheme (Gothic 1 controls or Gothic 2 controls), you aim with the action key and shoot with the forward key, or aim with the right mouse button and shoot with the action key.
