Do you want an extra tactical layer when leveling up your mortals? Do you feel there could be more diversity in abilities? Add Karma Power today and find a whole new batch of possible abilities while leveling up your characters.

  • 20 New possible abilities for level ups
  • Extra layer of customization of your leveling up with balanced choices where you can greatly increase something at the expense of something else

Available Powers
  1. Dodgy: Untargetable by Range for 45m
  2. Warrior: Perm +1 Melee and Range
  3. Chef: Perm +4 Cooking, -2 Cleaning
  4. Pacifist: Perm +4 Nursing, -2 Melee
  5. Spelunker: Perm +4 Mining, -2 Crafting
  6. Architect: Perm +4 Building, -1 Mining, Logging, Foraging
  7. Janitor: Perm +4 Cleaning, -2 Foraging
  8. Lumberjack: Perm +4 Logging, -2 Mining
  9. Herbalist: Perm +4 Foraging, -2 Building
  10. Artisan: Perm +4 Crafting, -1 Mining, Logging, Foraging
  11. Agriculturist: Perm +4 Farming, -1 Mining, Crafting, Building
  12. Rancher: Perm +4 Ranching, -1 Mining, Crafting, Building
  13. Lifter: Perm +4 Hauling, -2 Farming
  14. Bark Skin: +5 Armor for Melee and Range for 2h
  15. Inspiration: When activated +5 to Building for 1h, Loss of speed, 1h cooldown
  16. Perfectionist: When activated +5 to Crafting for 1h, Loss of speed, 1h cooldown
  17. Die Hard: Perm +10 to Tolerance (takes more damage to fall)
  18. Respected: Perm +50 to Prestige and 30 to Respect
  19. Greedy: Perm +120 to Prestige and 100 to Ambition
  20. Night Owl: Needs less light (great for night shifts, awful for well lit places)


  • No incompatibilities known
  • CAN be added mid-game
  • CANNOT be removed mid-game
  • No known issues

Do avoid those requests like «can we have this and this in a separate mod» or stuff like that, remember this is voluntary work and dedication to the community and my mods will obviously follow my vision of logic.

Is there a way to make the abilities less RNG and more D&D? The RNG is horrible since I always end up with combat-useless cleaner with stoneskin and combat guys with traits for cleaning they are NEVER going to need (my main combat guys build or mine when they do no combat and the workers are plain support archers when needed).

I do like the game but the RNG is just too much.

That is, AFAIK, hardcoded random.

i tired editing it myself, but i get errors saying the game cant locate what i removed. prolly needs a new save for the edited mod. but i dont want to move them entirely, they are useful, i just dont want them as the level 5 ability for every character ya know?

I will see what can be done, meanwhile if you know how to, you can try to edit the octdat file and delete the ones you don't like.

is there a way to disable certain abilities? i keep getting 'greedy' and 'respected' which are good, but i wanna see some of the others youve added in. honestly i wish there was a reroll for the abilities selection screen.

@Demitrious: As far as I know the answer is a 'not yet' for your 3 questions. Most abilities stuff are hardcoded. Although some hardcoded stuff can be changed by a very experienced coder, it is way out of my league.

I do plan to revisit this MOD pretty soon to bring diversity and a couple of new possible abilities.

Can abilities/ Powers be tied to Seasonal periods or Environmental conditions, such as underground, inside a building, near light / heat sources, etc.?

Similar to how Green Thumb grows a bush or tree, it is contingent on an environmental object within range

Also, can the level up effect of adding an ability/ power be changed? like setting a default power at lvl 1 or every 3 levels vs 5?
