Ever wanted to try higher difficulty but with custom bonus for the AI ? You think that difficulty fighting bonus for the AI is unfair and would like to specifically remove it but not the rest ? This mod allows you to tweak everything that makes the difficulty (Extra free units, all various bonus and boosts) and will be useful for players who want to train against stronger AI but with less unfair starting bonuses. Thanks to it you will be able to customize, experience new pleasurable solo games and ultimately, find the perfect difficulty for you. It is far more complexe than any "less/more/no AI bonus" mod and I did let explanations and comments to guide you in the sql file.

By default, this mod will simple remove the fighting bonus and the extra free starting units for AI (not all free units, but only the extra given with difficulty raise). If you want a personnalized experience, you will have to visit the mod folder to access to everything you can tweak.

  • Extra units for the AI - Add news or remove specifics, default is set on all removed.

  • Extra units for the City States - Add news or remove specifics. Default is set on few addition to prevent early conquest by player. If you have mods that are already doing that, one of those will prevail depending of the load order.

  • Combat bonus for the AI - Add, lower, inrease, or remove, default is set on all removed.

  • Experience bonus for the AI - Add, lower, inrease, or remove, default is let like vanilla.

  • Core Yields bonus for the AI - Add, lower, inrease, or remove, default is let like vanilla.

  • Free Civic and Science boosts for the AI - Add or remove, default is let like vanilla.

I advise you to cleverly raise some Core Yield bonuses to compensate for the removals you make. Giving extra free Units or free science/civic boosts can also be healthy if you are confident with your starts against the AI. If you are not inspired, take a look at the screenshot to see what my favourite setting look like and make it happen by editing the .sql file, this is one of my favourite tweak.



It should be compatible with every mod since it only adds a few independant lines/values in already existing & adequate data tables.

Even if they represent hundreds of working hours, I'm sharing my mods for free like most of mod creators. hello does this mod still work ? I ve edited the stuff you ve said but to me it doesn t change anything on emperor, the AI still gets big yields out of thin air

@Moonrise No, you don't understand what does the mod. It allows you to take control of all the variable related to difficulty. The fact you starts with 3 settlers with modern era is related to the period/time choice, not the difficulty one. So you would need another mod to do specifically that. Mine treat only with difficulty core variables and this is really different when the game process it. The screenshot from the official wikiwebsite (brown one) indicates 'Ai starting settlers' but that's not the final number since starting era can also intervene, didn't want to rename or edit the screenshot but yeah the label is not intuitive and I can understand how you were mistaken on a definitive number of settler.

This does not work for starting on advanced eras. Eg.: Modern Era everyone still starts with 3 settlers

@qianshuoge it doesn't, some parameters can only be reached at the creation of a new game, and this is exactly the case with this mod at least the biggest part of it. So you ll need a whole new game to get the changes.

@Odysseas_84 It has to be another mod of your reversing some/big part of this mod's values (aim for something related to AI's, or global parameters ofc). I tested it with some friend and it works fine here. Also in this mod there are only "UPDATE" sql commands (beside the city states unit that are independant), update can't create incompatibilities as bugs leading to mods not working. So this works, the values are just edited after it by some other that's all.
