1/5 Scale USS Tucumcari

The Tucumcari was one of two prototype boats contracted by the Navy under project SCB 252 for the purpose of evaluating the latest hydrofoil technology of the 1960s. She served in Vietnam with adequate results. After that, she was sent on tour to demonstrate hydrofoil technology to US and foreign officials, until she ran aground in 1972, deemed too damaged to repair, and used as a test hulk for fire containment tests, finally scrapped in 1973.
