F-104 Starfighter

描述
"The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is a single-engine, supersonic interceptor aircraft. It was developed into an all-weather multirole aircraft in the early 1960s and produced by several other nations, seeing widespread service outside the United States."

In this universe the Starfighter is a cheap early interceptor with limited range but a wider weapon loadout than the Condor. Essentially, the first adapted interceptor by the Xenonauts when the the unit was first stood up after the Iceland Incident.

This is a standalone mod that works well with the community edition. I have no idea of compatability with other more extensive mods. Let me know in the comments if there are any issues and I'll see what can be done.

I tried to make this mod useful for the early game on veteran or above. It might be a bit overpowered for normal and easy.

-Updated the mod to increase compatibility with other mods. Should popup for manufacture after 4 in-game days right after Alien invasion has been researched.

I love the idea but this mod is overpowered as hell for what the plane is essentially meant to be.
MIG-31 has 3x the HP, 1.5x the speed, almost 2x the range but only two heavy slots.

Okay, that means the MIG is a big upgrade, right?
Well, not exactly - the F-104G has THREE whopping slots for heavy weapons and a cannon!
Sure, it can be a bit of a glass cannon, but with that many weapons it sorta becomes a sidegrade to the MIG and not a somewhat different predecessor in terms of interceptor planes.
I know F-104 could carry like 2xAIM7+2xAIM9 and a cannon but the F-16 carried even more irl and honestly it feels like it could compete against F-16 too.

I've rebalanced the plane for my own use by removing the cannon, restricting heavy weapons to one slot and nerfing the turn rate from 50 to 45, it feels much more like an entry-level interceptor now.

Sorry for the late response. RL took over for a bit. I was never able to pin down the exact issue with this problem. Sometimes it showed up. Sometimes it didn't. Most of the time it would resolve it self. With the mod loaded how long do you start a new game in game day wise. It might take a few in-game days for a pop up to show that you can build it.

Alright, sorry for the late response but the folder was a zip folder so I extracted it, but when I try to select the starfighter folder after clicking Add New Mod it keeps opening the said folders up instead of loading it. I have watched multiple tutorials on how to unzip it as well, I have no clue what the problem could be, what do you think about it?

I've encountered this a couple of times before when I was play testing earlier versions of it. I ended up resolving it by unsubing starting a new game. Then closing the game resubbing. I remember having to do it a few times for the game to finally see the mod as a mod. If that doesn't work it might have something to do with the file itself. Is it fully open or a zip folder? Might have to manually unzip it in the same folder.

it doesnt show up for me, i did some troubleshooting and figured out that its in the mods folder and everything is where its supposed to be, but when i try to add it manually it shows an error saying "following is not a mod file", any ideas?

Yes it edited fine but it didn't take right. I ran into the same problem when I first tried making the mod. I then started to use other XML editing programs until I found one that both edited and saved. This issue has been noted in the Xenonauts modding forum. Something about newer software not saving right. You can refer to the games official modding forum and look and around there as well. Here's the link just copy and paste.

Notepad++ edited fine. The mod is being overwritten by another program, I just want ti increase the range of the craft.

Not at all. I'm saying that I used older software. Namely Microsoft XML Notepad. That's the name of the program. It's a free download last time I checked.
