Miao Bobcat

The result of a long period of testing and prototyping, engineers at Miao have produced an ultra compact engine which fits its entire power unit, transmission, front axle, and cooling system within a 3x3x5 space. The air-cooled 2 cylinder Miao Model 1 engine breathes through a ram air intake automatically controlled by a Cyntek fuel injection system. It does away with gearboxes entirely, instead using its clutch as a continuously variable transmission.

This compact package uses half the fuel of a larger engine, while still reaching speeds in excess of 200 kph.


Everything you need and nothing you don't. Automatic headlights turn themselves on when it gets dark, and off when it's light. Automatic climate control ensures that no matter where you go, as long as you're in your Bobcat, you're always warm. A clearly laid out display reads engine rps, temperature, and fuel levels while allowing the driver to toggle between kilometer and mile readouts for speed with just a click.
With another click to the drive mode indicator, the vehicle enters sport mode which increases power and steering sensitivity. A backup camera and simple GPS display round out the uncluttered dashboard and ensures you'll never get lost unless you want to.


Bobcat's trunk carries all the essentials, first aid, flashlight, fire extinguisher, welder, hose, and cables with a 3x3x3 cube of useable cargo space.


While lots of effort was focused on producing a smooth, predictable and easy to drive vehicle, equal amounts of attention were paid to overall useability and functionality. Extensive testing in many different locations and situations has hopefully produced a vehicle you'll find useful and a great option for your next trip across the world of Stormworks.

Lots of testing and experimentation went into the design of each element of this vehicle, but especially its microcontrollers. I hope this serves as an illustration as well as inspiration to the developers as to what players could build if microcontrollers existed on their own layer in the editor instead of their current massive physical form.
