Skirmisher Knight Hero Class

描述
Filled with hatred against the elders, some skirmishers set aside their advent weaponry and pickup something a bit more old fashioned. Armed with a sword and shield, a Skirmisher Knight seeks to protect their allies and strike down their enemies.

This is a new hero class that can be used alongside any other Skirmisher classes, including Proficiency Skirmisher, without causing any compatibility problems. It should also be compatible with mods that alter Skirmisher abilities, and I would generally recommend running it with RealityMachina's Skirmisher Rebalance. This makes the Skirmisher abilities it inherits in the Leader tree at lot more effective.

Custom Hero Class Icon adds an icon to the class.

Playstyle
The Skirmisher Knight tends to want to keep their guard up and draw fire, or get into melee quickly to take down opponents and generate focus. They're capable of dishing out a lot of damage if they can build up their focus, but they're almost entirely reliant on kills for doing so.

They gain a small amount of mobility as they level, but they actually have a small increasing defense penalty, though this can be seen as a benefit since it draws fire away from their allies. They can, if using all their defensive options, be virtually unkillable, but you'll need to balance that with offense or they'll just be a living mimic beacon.

*New Abilities
  • Storm Sabre: A melee attack that does extra damage and bypasses armour. Costs 1 focus.
  • Dark Sword: Melee attack that grants an extra focus on hit.
  • Leech Sabre: A melee attack that restores your shields for the damage done. Costs 1 focus.
  • Holy Explosion: A melee attack that hits in a large cone behind the target and does double damage. Costs 2 focus.
  • Stun Sabre: A melee attack that applies a 1 action stun to the target and disorients them. Costs 1 focus.
  • Knights Code: Passive +10 aim and crit chance for melee attacks.
  • Hardened Shield: Passive that reduces all damage dealt to your shields.
  • Cleave Sabre: Melee attack that damages the target and enemies in a cone behind them. Costs 1 focus.
  • Blade Artist: Increases the damage of melee attacks that cost focus or have a cooldown.
  • Mana Ward: 1 action without ending the turn, that provides a large amount of shield for a short duration and immunity to some status effects. Costs 1 focus.
  • Momentum Burst: Free action for 2 focus that grants yourself and all allies in a radius an extra move action.

**Abilities are from Stormrider:
  • Windcaller: Grants a bonus move action after making a melee attack in blue move range, and makes melee attacks against adjacent targets non-turn ending.
  • Intercept: A melee form of overwatch within blue move range.
  • Guard: Costs a move action (or granted free if you did not attack that turn) and turns the next hit against you into a miss, or the next crit into a graze. Can be stacked for multiple guards, but wears off at the start of your turn.

A lot of abilities are directly or partially from Mitzruti, so they deserve a lot of credit, and some are from Iridar's Stormrider.
If you wish to play this class without the Templar Mage, you can disable it in its FactionClasses.ini and you can also disable the Stormrider if you wish in its ClassData.ini.

The class image is not transparent resulting in a black box surrounding the class image, was that intentional?

@FearTheBunnies Oh neat, I'm glad you made that possible, I even made an icon but didn't use it. I'll see if I can get an update.

@Kelvae The mod @TrooperCoon is referring to is [WOTC] Custom Hero Class Icon Support which will replace all the areas in the UI where it showed the default faction flag class icon with the custom class's class icon. Since your current custom class icon is a blank image, it is showing a blank image in all those places. With this new mod, if you wished to give your custom class a fancy icon it will now display properly throughout the UI.

it seems like the skirmisher knight's icon is blank when using custom hero class icon
the mod enables custom faction hero classes to get their own unique class icons instead of the base skirmisher class icon, can you look into it?

@Jokerke I've not tested this with True Primary Secondaries so that could be the problem... But it wouldn't affect shields. I suspect there's some other mod conflict involved.

My Skirmisher Knight can't equip swords nor shields. I'm using RPGO and I have True Primary Secondaries instead of regular Primary Secondaries.

@The Worst I have a 95% complete Reaper Class from around when I made this, but I couldn't get one ability to work, got frustrated, and quit haha. It's a monk. I might go back and finish it next time I get into XCom 2 again.

As for RPGO I could make on pretty easily, I'm not sure why I didn't, but I think maybe I used a couple abilities from this class to pad out the melee part of the Archmage one. I could at least make one spec line.

This looks awesome! Will this receive an rpgo specialization similar to the archmage, and will the reapers get some love?

I see! That's interesting for a Concept, though I admit it does seem/feel a little, 'off/out-of-place', when abilities and mechanics for the Skirmisher Knight refers to Psionics/Templar mechanics, especially as the class itself isn't really a, 'Psionic', class.
