Ship needs to be looked at, it seems to be consistently out of energy, regardless of what systems I shut off.

I build the ship some years ago, that's why it has no defense guns and the acceleration is slow. Just use a Shield Reinforcer and forget about HP.

Excellent start!

A few suggestions, if I may.
Add a few turret bases to the bottom, at least for defense guns.
Enlarge the engines, acceleration too slow.
Additional intertia dampers, deceleration also slow.
Add armor to strategic places, hull is squishy.
Needs a minimal cargo bay for missions.
