The Hammer of Rados

描述
Please watch the attached video to see what this ship is built for and capable of.

The Hammer of Rados: Callsign THOR.

The Hammer of Rados is a multi-function Pocket Battleship and precision corer in One. It also cleanly mounts all 8 Laser drills and has full factory capacity to roll nearly all CV abilities into a single ship.

What is a pocket battleship, and why go small?

Smaller ships require less armor to fully wrap their components, extending your armored component section even a single block in each direction can increase the armor weight of a ship by nearly 50%, extending 2 blocks Doubles the weight. A tighter, non-segregated component section necessitating less armor is always preferable and allows thicker armor, rather than a bloated and un-necessarily segregated component section with thinner armor wrappings. There isn't a lot of point to segregating your Generators from your Fuel tanks, or your oxygen, as losing any of these things very likely disables your ship. & if you're talking mobility and flight characteristics at this extreme, A tight, well-armored, all-encompassing component section is key to keeping your profile light & tight.

Why do we want to be small? Smaller ships handle better is every respect, especially in first person control, and also make you a smaller hitbox for the enemy, meaning you take less damage, can dish more of it out, and fight at closer ranges, and achieve better angles of fire than you otherwise normally could.

For 99.99% of PvE encounters, armor has neglible value to an experienced pilot. Your armor is in case something bad happens, like a disconnect or a frame rate drop. Despite that, because this is an end-game ship, THOR has an all-encompassing Xeno armored component section, as well as 8-10 Layers of Xeno/CS frontal/under/over ablative armor that covers your entire front-profile, including your container extensions.

Anti-explosion-damage buffers are also present here, to prevent chain explosions of turrets from getting out of hand if you're struck in the tail fin. Your artillery cannons likewise, have seperating armor so they do not damage one another or start a chain reaction. Losing all of your forward artillery will not breach your airlock nor compromise the ships extensions, you have plenty of armor behind those forward weapon pods.

What is a "precision corer"?
Precision coring is ignoring the enemy's component targets to surgically destroy it's core, in the case of THOR, this is done with a battery of 12 artillery cannons. With precision coring you can largely ignore the need to destroy large ( valuable ) parts of the enemy ship and instead quickly, and cleanly disable the ship, it saves time, ammunition, and increases your loot haul.

Why precision coring not a common thing? Most new players do not know the precise location of enemy ship's cores, and even veteran player's ships are almost certainly too slow, and lack the agility to maneuver into position to properly aim and lead the target.

What can you do with precision coring?

You can one-shot a Corvette. vs. disabling it and destroying half its components in the process.
You can 2-shot a Frigate, same story, more loot, less time.
You can 3 shot a Kamirat, saving you a 5-10 minute fight and much of the enemy ship being destroyed.
You can blow the head off a Dreadnaught in about 3 minutes with some practice ( not my preferred method )
THOR is specifically designed for both Heavy combat ala Dreadnaughts & Eradicators, and for quickly and precisely executing smaller ships in record time, and it can do both at once, on multiple targets, whilst avoiding most or all fire via it's unrivalled speed and maneuvering.

While larger, slower, cheaper ships can certainly dance all day on a single Dreadnaught or eradicator ( I have ships like that on my workshop already ), THOR can engage 3 or 4 ships and a swarm of drones, all at once, executing the smaller targets with precision shots while shrugging off what little fire manages to land and all the while swatting drones out of the sky with heavy Minigun and Missile salvos. This is an extreme ship with exceptional abilities, for demanding pilots.

Do you need this ship to defeat content? You absolutely do not need this ship, or even a quantum ship, to kill anything up to and including Dreadnaughts. You simply need to be agile and know how to fly evasively while putting shots on target. If you would like something inexpensive for the task, I'd highly recommend either my Dauntless, or Cry Havoc! CV's. Both are non-quantum and have and will kill a Dreadnaught. That said, expect your fights to take significantly more time, your encounters must be approached with caution, and some multi-ship encounters may not be realistic.
Besides its unheard of speed and agility, the craft is designed with its artillery at the fore, it is a double barrels shotgun with your cockpit right between, so you can fire directly at the target and make point-blank shots accurately at the target, try putting your artillery on the tail and you will immediately see the difference that just 50 meters of spacing does to your accuracy, having your Artillery tight to cockpit and at the fore is essential to the ships primary function.

Is it Fast? No, it's Lightning fast.

To say this ship is fast is an understatement, it is not just fast, it is fast omni-directionally, being 8-12+ G's in every direction. THOR's speed and agility is unprecidented in Reforged, it is something completely new, you will not find another ship on the workshop at this weight/armamement that has even half of the speed and control of this ship, unless it's one of mine. The ship can perform any and all maneuvers at any G force in game, it can even fight upside down at 5G+, making it an excellent ground-pounder if equipped with Zirax turrets, it can dance through the sky face-down and rain an ungodly amount of fire onto POI's while dodging pretty much all fire, killing them in record time.

Secure Quantum/CPU/Shield space.

Your High-cost components are housed seperately from your primary component section, so in the event that your ship is disabled in a blowout, your cores and your High-value shield will survive the blast.
Full medical, Full Hangar, integrated sensors, Full factory production, Secure rear-cockpit, This ship has it all.

THOR can be paired down to around 4.5 Million CPU by selectively removing turrets as desired, & removing one of the 3 Lateral drive thrusters and removing the 'Large' Upfiring thrusters ( near the UP drive thrusters ) , it'll reduce it's side to side thrust to about 70 m/s, but with the lighter turret load ( around 42-44 ) actually increases yaw and pitch close to 100, so handling improves. & It will still rip the generators out of a Dreadnaught at that turret count / CPU limit. ( 4.5 million, 40'ish mostly T2 turrets, 100 yaw/pitch )

You could pair it down even more by removing 2 of the Forward/back Drive thrusters and replacing them with a combination of Advanced/large thrusters inside of the same housing you removed the drive thrusters from. You can make it an anti-drone phenom & precision corer with enough anti-shield turrets to kill large CV's as well at around 3.5 Million CPU.

It can also be upgraded to a Regenerative Shield, Antimatter Warp, and Progenitor Pentaxid tank, the ship goes all the way to 10 million CPU, there is room for a 3rd Advanced generator in the armored component section for the added load.

If you're looking for a lighter, less expensive ship with similar function ( similar, not the same ), I would highly recommend the HMS Honeybadger, the predecessor of THOR. Despite having bigger, more capable ships, the Honeybadger has been my daily-hunter for 3+ months, it is an absolute joy to fly, fight, and core in.

Enjoy, and Happy Hunting!

Thanks. I appreciate the attitude. I love your builds and I'll definitely give you credit for the original. It's such a beautiful ship.

I do not mind, always been my stance that anyone is free to create and publish variants of my stuff without permission, it is a great compliment to me that people want to.

I've updated this ship for the current version. Do you mind if I upload it? If not I'd be willing to send it to you. Still one of my favorite all time ships.

Darn. Seemed quite impressive from the description. What do recommend as a similar funcion now?

No this one was made obsolete by game changes, unfortunately.

Does this work well in may 2023?

This was by far my favorite ship this season on Spanj's server. So Thanks for it! Sleek, and fun as hell. Took a bit to balance out the 60 some odd extra turrets and near-perfect speed. Nothing more thrilling than first person combat imo. Hopefully she's as viable in with the Upcoming changes to RFE. Id kill to see 1 or 2 of those pvp builds of yours. lol.

Restrictions might be the wrong word... more like nerfing maneuverability
