Better VR Route Adviser

Summary:

Rearranged layout of the route adviser elements for playing in VR.

The relevant UI positioning variables in the config.cfg file (example below) should be changed to suit your own viewing preference. The config.cfg file is typically found in …\documents\American Truck Simulator.

Note also that 1.50 appears to have added as the default setting a small 'radius' to curve the home menu and also it is translated and pitched down. To flatten and return to the center (like it was prior to 1.50) the 'pitch', 'y' and 'radius' should all be changed to zero.

Values ending in '_game' will change the route adviser UI while values which do not end in '_game' will change the home menu UI.

It is best to adjust these in small increments. I recommend using 0.1, or 0.05 increments for adjustments to ‘x’ and ‘y’ fields (if you need to nudge the entire UI up/down/left/right and increments of 5 or 10 for the ‘fov’, ‘dist’, 'pitch' and 'yaw' fields. If you would like to change these values while in the game and not have to keep restarting the game to make the changes to the config.cfg file, then you will need to enable the developer console and can then input the changes there directly.

This should work with 1.56 now :lunar2019piginablanket: and hopefully not have broken previous versions (assuming that I correctly edited the versions.sii file and structured the mod content folders correctly :PhogsConfused:).

I will second Ghost's comment about the greatness of this app. It's clean and not intrusive layout has become an indispensable and instinctual part of driving in VR. I can't imagine using any other route advisor without completely retraining my brain to find the pertinent displays at a quick glance.

Thanks for explaining the situation - obviously it's sad that it's not a quick fix, but I'm hopeful you'll be able to find time to resolve it in the future as this is such a great mod :)

I've updated the game and extracted the base.scs file to compare the current (1.56) adviser_oculus.sii file (containing all the screen coordinates for the various UI elements) against the copy of the .sii file in the mod (which was last updated several game updates ago, whenever the last one was that broke the mod).

On initial review, there are are a number of significant changes so it will most likely not be a quick fix to update the mod to work for 1.56 as it will require a lot of testing to determine what exactly the changes are and whether or not I need to move any new or updated UI elements around or off screen. Sorry.
