TLDR: Have your diplomatic range scale based on the tier of your main title. Start with a severely reduced range as a count that increases as you become a duke, king, and then emperor. MUST HAVE DIPLOMATIC RANGE RULE ON RESTRICTED.

A small mod I made that introduces scaling for diplomatic range depending on your highest tier title. This mod was built on the principle that lower level rulers, ie counts and dukes, would naturally not have the political capital or resources to reach as much territory as higher level rulers, ie kings and emperors. So with this mod, while you may be unable to interact with anyone besides your neighbors as a count, you will naturally be able to interact with more and more people as your title increases.

Use only with the Restricted Diplomatic Range game rule, because I have changed that value to better reflect the intended range. If you play on default range, you will basically be able to reach anywhere on the map as a higher tier title.

Base range (For Barons and Counts): 350
Dukes: 525
Kings: 612.5
Emperors: 700

HOW TO UPDATE THE MOD:

On the launcher in this mods section select the three dots below "enabled" and click "Show in folder"

Open common > modifiers > zzz_basic_modifiers

Now open the game main folder, go to game\common\modifiers and open 00_basic_modifiers.txt

Now copy the baron, count, duke and emperor modifiers from the game folder's file onto the mod folder's file and just add "diplomatic_range_mult = 0.5" at the end of the duke modifiers, "diplomatic_range_mult = 0.75" at the end of king modifiers and "diplomatic_range_mult = 1.0" at the end of emperor modifiers (without the quotation marks of course.)

Hmm, if this mod really is just a few lines of code, then if somebody could make something similar that also limits the diplomatic range of courtiers, then that would fix the lag issue you get in the AGOT mod when you're in the iron throne (because every courtier on the map can scheme everybody else within the seven kingdoms regardless of distance). I'd do it, if I knew how to mod.

@blazeknave it's because it's directly overwriting the base game's "emperor_modifier", so the author has to put all the stuff that is already there; if they just put emperor_modifier = { diplomatic_range_mult = 1.0 }, then an emperor would get no domain, vassal, accolades, etc.

Unfortunately, takuro is right this mod needs an update for tax slots :(

I love this idea, but I don't get why it's defining all these?
