SBS VALKYRIE Mk.I GPS Missile System (OLD VERSION - Issue with Steam Workshop)

*** NOTE: I've had to create a second Workshop Entry for the VALKYRIE as Workshop is not accepting Updates from the Game. The newest version was updated to be reprogammable in Flight.

First offering from SeaBoss Systems (SBS) Military division for a precision guided self contained GPS Missile System. The VALYRIE has a practical range of ~5km (has a keep alive block and "true range" depends upon Game rules/settings). The missiles are launched vertically. Targeting is done via a Keyboard to declare WP GPS X and Y. There are optional keypads for setting the Top Out Altitude on Launch (Height at which the missile will start it's Altitude to Target Profile, default is 250m if not set) and Target Altitude (Height that you want the missile to hit at the WP, default is 0). There are separate panels on either side of the launcher for each Missile (R1, R2). The destructive power of the VALKYRIE is augmented by KILL engines that fire 4 small rockets at ~100m out from the target.

HOW TO OPERATE...
1. PUSH/PULL the carrier trailer from the hanger to it's launch position. The carrier doesn't need to be pointed at the target as the VALKYRIE will orient itself after launch from vertical.
2. Optionally activate the Trailer Parking brakes (button on port side centre) to lock all the wheels except for the back. Turn the DEPLOY RACK Key (Port side) to extend the rear support wheels and bring the missiles up in to launch position.
3. Enter the GPS X and Y co-ordinates for the target in to the keyboard. Optionally enter Top Off and Target Altitude using the additional keypads.
4. When ready press LAUNCH. The track brakes will release the missile and it will begin to path to it's target. Fire and Forget.
5. Once the VALKYRIE comes within 100m of the target the KILL engines will engage and slam the missile in to the target. Once the VALYRIE is within 10m of the target it will activate the DETONATION effect which is currently set as a smoke flare.

***A SUGGESTION FOR PULLING... THE SBS MULE Mk.III HEAVY HAS BEEN UPDATED TO MILITARY PAINT AND INTEGRATES WITH THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND BRAKES FOR THE VALKYRIE CARRIER

VALKRYIE IMPROVEMENT - Transition from Climb to Target Profile vastly improved
(Hopefully the update makes it to this version as there have been previous Steam Update issues)

Just as a note... it appears that Stormworks Update is not working. The newest versions of the VALKYRIE don't appear to be making it to Workshop even though it says Successful Upload in Stormworks.

UPDATE: The missiles are now reprogrammable (Source Programmable Guidance - ode to "Spies Like Us"). While on flight you can update the Target GPS X/Y and Target Altitude to retarget the missiles.

Just to add a bit more to the moving vehicles perspective...
The missile is currently designed to impart a "explosive effect" in a zone from a distance. For radar targeting to be effective you must know that a target is actually there (picked up on distant radar). With the currently limitations on detection ranges due to "keep alives" with the physics engine it is difficult to be precise on what the target actually is, if there is actually something there and also whether you should hit it. I'm looking to upgrade the VALKYRIE so that the GPS Guidance can be changed on the fly (Source Programmable Guidance - SPG) and slaved to a system such as a spotting laser or external radar (ex. AWACS). This pulls the computing requirements off the missile and on to the Remote Fire Control Director.

It's currently not supposed to. It's a GPS Missile which hits a target at a specific location and altitude. Think of it as being more like a standard Tomahawk missile which doesn't have passive radar for target tracking. It just goes where it is supposed to go and "explodes". Newer versions may add passive targeting.

Thanks, Hunter. Still WIP as I'm working on tweaking the PID numbers for a number of Rocket control surfaces. As for Nuke... could be once the Weapons DLC is released... only time will tell. :)

For a minute I thought you built a nuclear missile and was like oh no, then saw it was a GPS missile and was like oh thank goodness. Nice work btw!
