Design your own island maps!
This mod adds an Island Plotter and a Floor Editor to the Staff menu.
It supports custom island and beach floors, to create crazy designs!
Where the DLC just creates random islands, the island plotter gives you way more control.
The final result will always look more randomized than the standard islands from the game.



!! WARNING !!
USE THE ISLAND PLOTTER WITH CARE OR IT WILL DESTROY YOUR PRISON.
If you dare to use the Island Plotter on an existing prison map,
then everything which is not a room will become water with a beach around it.




NEW STAFF MEMBER: ISLAND PLOTTER
  • Start a new map with a default road. NO ISLAND, since you can't draw rooms on water.
  • Use the 'Island Plotter' room to mark one or several islands.
  • The islands you draw should somehow be connected to the road.

When done, save the map.
Next, place the Island Plotter from the Staff Menu.
Just follow its tooltip for detailed info on what the buttons will do.

FEATURES
  • Select specific island and / or beach tiles
    Dirt, Snow, PavingStone, Grass, LongGrass, Mud, GravelStone, ConcreteTiles, Sand, LooseStone, NewMud, Sandstone, LunarFloor, GrassStones, FlowerField.
    It's up to you if you want island and beach tiles be the same or a mix of 2.
    You can create weird islands with a Lunar floor and a Snow beach for example.

  • Random beach around the island on / off
    When disabled, the Island plotter will only plot the marked rooms so you have custom contol on how the end result will look.
    When enabled, the plotter adds roughly 3 tiles of random beach around the islands.

  • Coast Tiles with Random reef / sandbanks
    You can mix various land tiles into the stroke of Walkable Water to give the beach an even more random look. When Reef is enabled, these coast tiles might extend to some random patterns to the left, right and bottom of islands. Looks great when using Loose Stone.

  • Custom trees on the beach
    Oak, Fir, Chestnut, Conifer, or a mix of these,
    or Palm, SpookyTree, SnowyConiferTree, CactusTree, SakuraTree, PalmTree, Bush.
    Besides the type, you can also specify the amount to be placed.

  • Road Gates at top and bottom of the road
    Spawns 2 Road Gates at top and bottom map edge or at the pillars.
    You can choose between Road Barriers or Road Gates.

  • Optional Bridge with pillars at specified interval
    0 disables pillars, 2 creates a double walled bridge, 4-20 creates pillars every N tiles.
    A bridge has a sidewalk for visitors to the left, or both sides of the road.

  • Walkable / shallow / deep water with various depths
    You should plot Walkable water around a beach in order to prevent flashing NO ACCESS tiles in the Deployment screen. Shallow & Deep go deeper until they blend in the sea.

  • Cleans all floor tiles
    Plotting will reveal the green overgrown mess on the map when water is created, but the Island Plotter will clean this up. You need to Save / Reload map to see the final result.

  • Toggle Automatic or Manual plotting
    When set to Auto it will proceed through all plotting sweeps while you sit back and relax.
    When set to Manual you will have additional control on what to plot and what not.

DEMO MAP

GAME SPEED
The plotter takes several sweeps from top left to bottom right in order to plot islands. During its first sweep, you can set the game speed higher in order to plot the initial water and island faster. After this sweep, set the game speed back to normal, as it will have no influence on the plotting speed and would only waste game minutes. Keep the Island Plotter selected to see its progress on the map.



NEW STAFF MEMBER: FLOOR EDITOR
The Floor Editor tool is a renamed and updated version of Border Changer 2.0 which can now (sort of) handle Water Depth as well, in order to copy/paste/edit Water tiles from the Island Bound DLC.


COMPATIBILITY
This mod is compatible with the latest game version as well as Anniversary 2018 edition.

Mod update:

- plotter now marks areas with PavingStone and ConcreteTiles as an island without changing this tile type into the island material.

With this update it should be even easier to convert existing prisons into an island prison.

Mod update:

- sidewalk can now be toggled without a bridge.
- sidewalk can be off/left/right/left+right side of the road.
- fixed water row brightness to left side of road/bridge.

Mod update:

- excludes Perimeter Walls and Fences as well as 3rd party modded walls, as long as they have "Wall" or "Fence" in their name.

- The Island Plotter tool now also excludes Indoor floors/walls while plotting the map
- The "Island Plotter" room now requires to be Outdoors

This should make it possible to convert an existing prison into a prison on an island.

Mod update:

- added a Restart Plotting button which gets active after the first plotting sweep.

If you're not happy with the result of the plotted islands, simply press this button and the map will revert to what it was before plotting. You can then adjust the "Island Plotter" rooms again and start plotting again, without needing to reload the map.

OK, I think the code is done (for now).
As far as I can tell everything seems to work quite as intended, so have fun with this cool little mod! If you see any space for improvements, just drop a note and it might get implemented.

For now, just load the demo map a couple of times and let the plotter run with various settings each time so you can experiment and see what it does.
