描述
DECOMMISSIONED

Purpose
A small mining vehicle for excavating tunnels, mining and clearing paths for other vehicles.

Although the Marten has less cargo capacity than the older Ratel, its drills have greater range due to being mounted on hinges, instead of relying on differential suspension height. It also handles better and features a tow hitch, allowing the vehicle much greater versatility.

However the vehicle will struggle with the Medium Cargo Trailer or Medium survival trailer if their containers are loaded.


Features
This vehicle is still considered "printable," as there are only two sub-grids, each consisting of one Drill each. After printing, using a set up such as this one, simply place and weld up both drills as seen in the screenshots, then create or add them to the following groups for the toolbars and scripts to function; "Mrt-R Drills", "Mrt-R Cargo" & "Mrt-R MART".

If playing without scripts, the drill hinges can be controlled via toolbar 4, buttons 2 and 6. The hinge speed is set to 1rpm by default, use button 6 to reverse the direction of the elevation hinges, and button 2 to lock them in place.

This ship has an empty mass of 19781 kgs.

All Programmable blocks are turned off in this blueprint and all toolbars are the same from the cockpit and remote control.

All ships, vehicles & trailers in this set have a rear mounted Merge block and can be printed using a welder wall with one (large grid) piston. However in this case the merge block is designed to be ground down after printing, all blocks that require removal are painted bright red.

Fair enough, in that case I'll probably give it a look when I go back to the fork lift and crane builds, but I think MART does the job on this one

the only real diff i know of is just the ability to control pistons with a key bind and not needing to power on/off and reverse it.

im not to up to speed on where MART is now days i used it long ago but changed over to slaved turrets and stopped using MART.

Not really, I was just more familiar with it, but they do the same thing, as far as I know.

Eaglegundam made the same suggestion in the comments of the MK2 Marten, and so I'll ask you the same thing I asked him, is there any advantage to one over the other? (not trying to be dismissive here, if there is some clear advantage that I don't know of I'll switch happily)

is there a reason you use MART for the drills over the cockpit piston, rotor, and hinge controller ?

if you dont know of the one i was asking about. i know you dont have pistons on this which would open a huge range for your wheeled miners.

@Tino and if you print multiple I'd recommend adding a numeral to the end of each group name so that when they are connected to a station together the groups don't toggle blocks on the duplicate Vehicle

@Raynor the ISL - Atlas-AO 720 Orbital Cargo Shuttle seems pretty good, not as much cargo or fuel as the miner carriers but a lot cheaper and easier to pilot.

Yeah, I need to do a MK 2 version that's a bit longer, but has its containers in the middle. Will probably get around to that this afternoon.
