描述
Purpose
Designed to replace and improve upon the original, now decommisioned, Excavator. Featuring smoother controls, a slightly wider drill profile, more cargo space and more docking options.

The Ratel is designed for excavation and mining, it is able to fit into the tunnel it mines and can change tunnel elevation though timer blocks manipulating wheel suspension height offset. Be sure to have wheel suspension strength turned high enough for height offset changes to be effective.

This ship has an empty mass of 18198 kgs.

The Programmable block is turned off in this blueprint.

All ships in this set have a rear mounted Merge block and can be printed using a welder wall with one (large grid) piston. However in this design the merge block will have to be ground down if docking via the rear connector, all blocks that require removal are painted bright red.

Since i restarted my No-Fly Savegame i will definetely give this a try. I like the old design too :)

Agreed, it is not he most stable design, but it is as good as I could do without using sub-grids.

Since it uses differential wheel suspension height to angle the drills (instead of hinges, like the more recent excavators), the wheels could not be further forward, hence the front heavy design.

I also wanted to vehicle to fit inside the tunnel it drills (with left click), and so it could not be wider without adding more drills, making it more front heavy.

Ratel is a bit front- and top-heavy to work properly (this is without cargo in the drills!). She needs some more weight in the back and a wider wheelbase (or lower centre of gravity when loaded)

For continuity and searchability, the Ratel should be renamed RO, it is currently R0 (R Zero)

Hi Spite. I still use perfect RO 427 and I'm happy to try Ratel for my Triton survival. I consider the whole collection famous and I'm looking forward to the next. Thank you very much for your work. And i wish simple fast scout hydrogen powered buggy....:) (Sorry my English)
