描述
The day is July 7, 1987. You are in command of D&RGW Train #34, a loaded merchandise train that was jointly operated by both SP and D&RGW. At 120 cars totaling 7,887 feet, you are technically running two trains in one consist. Train 34 splits in half at Grand Junction, CO, with half of the consist taking the Moffat Tunnel Route and the other half taking Tennessee pass.

In this run you will take your ten engine train over the infamous Soldier Summit starting from the base of the Guilly Loops and stopping at Helper to remove your two rear helper units. The line is busy, so keep your wits about you as you make your way over the summit and down into Helper.

OPERATION NOTE:
Keep in mind that proper train control on this run is absolutely imperative! You have 31,800 horsepower distributed over 120 heavy loaded cars running on one of the most difficult railway grades in the world. If you slam the dynamic brakes directly from SETUP to anything above notch 1 coming down the 2% grade, you will derail. Unfortunately Train Simulator for the most part lacks realistic American braking physics, so you will mostly have to rely solely on your dynamic brakes. This means you must apply the dynamic brakes slowly, one notch at a time. Drop a comment in the chat below if you have any difficulties with this run, I'll do my best to help out.

That's a really good strategy! The key for surviving trips with these long trains is really to avoid sudden drawbar forces, and going that slow I think certainly helps. Thanks for playing! And that's still a good time too.

hello idaho i don't know!

I liked your scenario and accomplished your challenge with the impressive assortment of motive power that your consist had; also I arrived at the final destination around 1640 hrs. Here's why; heeding your advice, my train was between 17-20 mph from Kyune to Royal (about 5 mi. from Helper) then I went between 7-10 mph through the rest of the journey to avoid consist tilt. All-in-all, a very challenging scenario and an enjoyable run. 5 out of 5 stars for this one, especially for the locomotives you use to accurately describe the scenario's timeline.
