Douglas DC-3

The Douglas DC-3 is a propeller-driven airliner which had a lasting effect on the airline industry in the 1930s/1940s and World War II. It was developed as a larger, improved 14-bed sleeper version of the Douglas DC-2. The DC-3 had many exceptional qualities compared to previous aircraft. It was fast, had a good range, was more reliable, and carried passengers in greater comfort. Before the war, it pioneered many air travel routes. It was able to cross the continental US from New York to Los Angeles in 18 hours and with only 3 stops. It is one of the first airliners that could profitably carry only passengers without relying on mail subsidies.

This is a base model, meaning that the aircraft is mostly empty and is meant to be modified by the user. The stock aircraft has room for 8 passengers + 2 pilots, along with a cargo bay and a tank meant for transporting extra fuel to sell later. This aircraft is powered by two medium engines, and by default carries 35712 liters of fuel along with 20218 liters of oil, jet fuel, diesel, etc. Before taking off, make sure to unfold the wings with the key on the pilot's side and to turn off the parking brake next to the center pedestal.

Startup Procedure
The startup procedure is designed to be relatively simple for ease of operation.
1). Turn on the main power breaker on the overhead panel
2). Turn on the left and right magnetos
3). Open the engine fuel cutoffs
4). Use the push buttons to start the engines
5). Engage the propeller clutch
6). Once you are in the air, turn off the engine magnetos

Cruise
This aircraft is equipped with a roll damper and altitude hold by default. I would not recommend going below 80% throttle during cruise. (If the extra tank is full, go full throttle as the plane is much heavier). The plane can be flown from either the pilot or the copilot's seats.

Landing
For landing, about 80-75% throttle is good. Activate the parking brake or use the push brakes to stop upon touchdown. This aircraft is designed to be able to takeoff and stop quickly.
