Can confirm that this no longer works.

It was working in my game when I made it, but that was in 2020. I don't think the game has been updated since then. If it has, a game update might interfere. Otherwise it may be your other mods. I am retired from XCOM 2 modding, so I don't have the software to check.

Does this mod work? not seen a single turret (except normal spawns) and I've tried this mod multiple times (before), never seen it work.
Looked into the config files and it says they spawn already at Forcelevel 1 (I think?), so I should had seen them for sure.
I got other modded enemies, they work fine.
Maybe turrets have some line of code that doesn't let them spawn normally? idk, I've never made a mod. just thinking.
I really wish this mod worked, its a really fun idea.

Very nice! That means I could add them as followers for 'seige' or 'engineer' themed units

this is more of a "because why not" type of mod and I like it.

Yes, this mod adds Turrets to the random encounter lists.

Are these handled with the same follower method that troopers, etc use?

Yes

hmm, does this mean that I'll find turrets just randomly plopped on the ground?

Among the enemies we get (and I have added many thanks to our modding community), turrets are enemies I tend to respect and therefore give some kind of priority. So having them appear more often is undoubtedly a good idea.
