描述

The Adventure Sustainer 1 - “Vedfolnir” is a large sea plane designed as a multipurpose military vessel serving as both a transporter, gunship and mobile command center. It has a top speed of over 300 knots and all the equipment you would expect in both an airplane and a naval ship. It has its own CIC (combat information center) with several radio, navigation and surveillance terminals and gun stations controlling the 3 turrets onboard. It can carry 80 passengers and a crew of 10 people and is fitted for long journeys. The AS1 has a wingspan of almost 59 meters, and for comparison a 737 has 35 meters and a 747 has 68 meters.

Start-up:

Enter the plane through the roof hatch.

Go all the way front to the cockpit.

On the right side of the cockpit is a panel with a “POWER UP CONTROLS” key you have to turn.

Sit down in the pilot seat.

In the middle of the panel above the HUD screens, click the “SWITCH TO PROPELLER CONTROLS” button.

Use WASD to drive the plane out of dock so it has enough space to extend its wings and take off.

When you have enough space to extend the wings, turn the key on the roof panel “EXTEND WINGS”

When the wings have extended, flip the 4 fuel switches on the center console. One for each engine.

Click all the 4 engines on buttons on the center console to start all the engines.

Turn off the propeller control mode.

Increase or decrease the throttle of all the engines with the two buttons between the throttle levers.

You can also use arrow buttons up/down to control all the throttle levers.

Give full throttle when taking off.

Read the controls tooltips at the pilot seat.

Screens

The center HUD shows either RADAR/LIDAR or a map. Press the “NEXT” button in the top left corner to change display.

The pilot and co-pilot HUDs shows the speed in knots (KIAS), the vertical speed (V.SPEED) and the altitude (ALTI.) on the lower part. The box at the top center of the screen shows the current compass heading. The bars at the center of the screens show the plane’s pitch, roll and yaw. The vertical bar shows the pitch, the top horizontal bar shows the roll and the lower horizontal bar shows the yaw. The artificial horizon is shown as an overlay over the entre HUD. The HUD will also show if the autopilot, altitude hold, or propeller mode is active.

The 4 small screens above the HUDs are the engines RPS screens.

Under the HUDs is 4 small screens where the first is the RPS of generator engine 1. Second screen can either show the current optimal range or fuel. Third screen show the alarms. Fourth screen shows the RPS of generator engine 2.

The brightness of all the screens in the cockpit can be controlled with the arrow buttons on the center panel above the HUD screens. The center HUD will display the brightness %.

Equipment

In the cockpit you will the see the “FLIGHT COMMANDER” seat. Here you can control the gimbal camera. Click the button above the screen and the camera will emerge from under the plane. Controls for the camera are listed.

At the roof panel is a button to lower the anchor. The anchor will then automatically be lowered when toggled on and automatically raise itself again when toggled off.

The plane is fitted with an auto-evasion system which will make it avoid any obstacles it may collide with in flight. This can be disabled with a button on the center panel below the HUDs.

On the right side wall panel in the cockpit are the controls for the bilge pumps. They will automatically activate when water is detected inside the aircraft or when manually started. They can also be disabled.

In the rear part of the CIC room is 3 seats with screens to control the 3 gun turrets around the plane. One at the rear and one under each wing.

Both the pilot and co-pilot has one audio radio each able to use whatever frequency typed in. In the CIC are also two terminals with 2 radios each.

The plane is fitted with missile decoy chaff flares activated with a button on the center panel below the HUD screens. Hold the button to fire flares.

The plane also has landing gear. A button on the roof panel will lower the landing gear. Another button on the roof panel toggles the landing gear brakes. When the landing gear is down, you can use arrow buttons left/right to control the nose wheel steering.

Power and Fuel

On the roof of the plane right at the front of the tail wings is a hatch to access both the fuel hose and an electric cable.

The plane has two generator engines. One in each engine unit under the wings. On the right side wall panel in the cockpit is the controls for the generators. The wall automatically turn on if the engines are started or if the battery charge drops down below 0.9. They can also be manual started at the panel or disabled completely.

On the right side wall panel in the cockpit is also switches for the main power and engine power. Here you will also find a key to switch over to the reserve battery. The generators will charge whatever battery is in use at the moment.

The name of the airplane “Vedfolnir” comes from Norse mythology with the world tree called Yggdrasil, and it the tree lives many creatures. One of them is a hawk called Vedfolnir, meaning the wind-witherer. It sits at the top of the tree on the head of a giant nameless eagle looking out above all the worlds.
