Focke-Wulf Fw-293 'Adler'

Designed by Focke-Wulf's Amerikaforschung division, the Fw-293 'Adler' was Focke-Wulf's proposal for Oberkommando-Sonne's Project: STREIKERSTE. While Focke-Wulf ultimately lost the bid, Sektorkommando des Mars became fascinated with the concept. Experimental models of the Adler not only proved agile for an aircraft of its size, but exceeded all combat expectations. Sektorkommando des Mars currently holds 143 Adler bombers in inventory.

With exo-solar colonies facing increasing dissident activity, Oberkommando-Eridanus expressed an interest in the bomber's strategic warfare role. Bunker-buster bombs and thermonuclear weapons are difficult to carry into battle, and are liable to theft by various rebel factions. Focke-Wulf's Adler, in contrast, can use its four powerful engines to accelerate away from would-be pursuers. Alternatively, its maneuverable airframe can be worked to shake high-speed fighters. Bold pilots may use the forward-facing rocket pods, normally meant for anti-ground warfare, to fire on larger aerial targets.

• The Adler is a strategic bomber, not an air-superiority fighter. As such, its only stable position is level-flight. Rotating the aircraft to turn works fine, but prolonged sideways flight will likely result in kissing dirt.
  
• The landing gear and boarding ramp actually function! While they won't lock on to anything, they will hold the aircraft up off the ground and keep it from tipping over.
  
• Open the bomb bay before activating the drop sequence. Trust me.
