Description

With this mod you can collect and layer soil over terrain (Heavy Affordance) such as sand or mountain rock allowing you to build greenhouses in your mountain base. Since they are layered if you change your mind about the location you can remove the soil to get back your original terrain. The floors themselves are under floors and grouped into a single button. They use vanilla fertility rates and textures so its not overpowered or unbalanced.

To build the soil floors you need soil. Soil can be purchased or dug up from appropriate terrain using the appropriate soil gathering spot from the production menu (they are grouped into a single button). Normal soil can be gotten from terrain with 100% fertility while rich soil can only be gotten from rich soil. Gathering soil uses production bills and is a crafting job which uses the crafting spot workgiver.

Fertilizer can be used to enrich soil to make it a higher tier. Enriching soil can be done at a crafting spot or a soil gathering spot. Fertilizer can be purchased or created at a biofuel refinery, crafting spot or soil gathering spot using veggie, hay, wood or Biosolids (Dubs Bad Hygiene).

Mod Settings

The mod settings require XML Extensions and can be found alongside others in the mod setting section. All mod settings are off by default.

The mod settings allow you to individually enable options for for making Hydroponics, Plant Pots and Planter Boxes (VFE Farming) require appropriate soil to build.

Mod Interaction

If Dubs Bad Hygiene is loaded biosolids can be used in the recipe to create fertilizer.

If Let's Trade is loaded Farming traders will carry Fertilizer and Soil.

Soil should be gatherable from all mod added terrains. Fertility 0.6 to 0.9 yields Stony Soil, Fertility 1.0 to 1.3 yields Normal Soil, Fertility 1.4 and above yields Rich Soil.

It works fine for me. So either something is interfering with the mods patching or there's an issue with the mod files. Try having the mod near the end of your modlist. Also try grabbing a copy of the mod from the github link in the description and see if that helps.

I have the same problem. Everything is red. I tried moving the mod down the list, no go.

Makes sense. It's not a big deal. This is still really awesome! TY

Looking into it that issue is because the paddy and water bed are both floor types. The soil in this mod acts like a carpet, allowing it to be layered over terrain rather than replacing. So it doesn't support other terrains being built over it.

Just what I needed! With this plus Meditation Freedom I made a meditation park in my gravship, decorated with plants that can be dug up. It has a roof and sun lamp so the Anima Tree doesn't die in space.

I've encountered one conflict: I can't create a paddy or water bed from the Biosphere mod for water plants. The soil SAYS it's Diggable but the floor type Paddy and Water Bed from Biosphere give the error “requires terrain that supports diggable.” Any idea why?

I can post my mod list if necessary. Yes, it’s ridiculous. I only enable one or two at a time, then test stability…but it’s still a pretty long list.

I'm not sure how to embed images, but here's my Gravship. It's a Manta Ray shape with eight "swiss cheese" spaces that are outdoors but inside the walls. The "meditation park" is in one of the "outdoor" spaces.

@Inuko
I took a look at things and there's two ways to blacklist terrain. However they both work the same, if you blacklist it then you can't plant the tree on it.

I tried placing an Archean tree in regular and rich soil on my ship and it just destroyed the soil tiles one by one, would be awesome if I could have an Archean tree grove on my ship

@Lord Monero
Try moving the mod further down in your modlist. If that doesn't work you might want to try resubscribing, verifying your game files or simply grabbing a copy of the mod from the included github link because there's likely something wrong.

The patches themselves that make it so you can place the workbench look for terrain fertility so unless something else is interfering there shouldn't be any problems even for modded terrains.

I used to love this mod for my underground base. However, after restarting with the new DLC, I am unable to construct a workbench to collect soil. The entire map is marked red for all three variants. What am I doing incorrectly?

Sorry about the afterthoguht~ I only had 1 pig that had joined on me while I was on a surface map. Thought I'd test it. I'm using your soil for growing cheaper. Real life-saver. :cactuar:
