Automatic Voxel-Friendly Raycast Drill Rig

描述
Updated for greater yield and added animation.

Arguably an update to the Catalytic Drill Rig available at https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1648747134 . The two mods can exist together in the same world, however.

* Works on dedicated servers

* Uses a visible raycast to find ore; will bypass stone, ice or dirt if told to do so (If not, you can simply dig along the laser beam until you get to the ore)

* Does not deplete ore (yet, I haven't worked out how to do it)

* Max laser range: 100 meters

* Performance friendly: does not damage voxels

* Generates ore in its inventory every 5 seconds

* Use upgrade modules to improve production; yield modules are significantly more effective for this

* Power consumption = a little less than the output of 2 wind turbines

* Minimum distance of 30 meters between rigs, to prevent spamming

* Automatically turns off if there's nothing to extract

* Conveyorable

* Must be built on the asteroid/planet you are extracting from. To clarify: not only it must be a station, but the drill rig block must partially be inside the voxel.


Edit the block's Custom Data to allow digging through rock, ice, and dirt/organic instead of extracting them (NoRock, NoIce, NoDirt in the Custom Data text field will do the job). Or if you prefer a more realistic-looking approach, right-click-drill by hand following the laser beam until you expose the ore you want!

You can conveyor the rig's output to a standard refinery for general use like normal.

The laser beam shows where raycasting is being done, but is otherwise harmless to engineers or other grids.

Excellent mod, would be nice to be able have a custom data/option line that allows for the extraction of ice and dirt.

I don't know if it's my PC or your mod but the drill doesn't work when you change the settings in the custom data.

I noticed that the power requirements are very strange. With several speed modules it says it can use up to 7 MW but in fact it doesn't. Also it isn't any faster.

Yield modules don't seem to do as much as they say in the block notes. With all modules set to yield it should produce 400%, however it only increases by 50%.

In addition there is a weird static lightning effect at the very first block placed from that test base whenever that thing is running. Not sure why.

It says it has to be 1km distance between two grids, however here you say it is 30m?

hey got a question could it be that the mod is broken?

regardless of what i try i cant get tit to mine stone

i have removed the no from NoStone didnt work
removed everything in CD didnt work

Does this mod remove ore from a deposit or is it just spawning ore into its inventory if it detects a deposit in its range?

Is there a way to have it extract stone? I use a sifter mod that likes stone, and other mods like this won't take from conveyor, I've tried removing the nostone from the custom data but that doesn't work.

Couldn't duplicate any distance bug, but there is some difficulty in changing the Custom Data after the drill has located an ore. If you begin with the drill set to NoStone, and it detects an ore, you have to completely remove the drill and build a new one (or reload the world). Easiest way to replicate this is in creative mode; if you change it from NoStone after it has started harvesting Iron or whatever, the only way to make it harvest stone is by copy/pasting the rig back in.
