The Northeast Corridor - USA

描述
The year is 1905 and the network of rail connecting the northeastern United States is beginning to take form as a prominent form of transportation. Electrification of the rail network has begun to take place and the popular Northeast Corridor (NEC) we know today is born.

This map features numerous challenges like:
  • Laying the dominant high-speed electrified Amtrak line
  • Connecting neighboring communities to the NEC
  • Providing the vital links between east coast industries that fuel and drive its residential and industrial cities.

All city demands and industries were chosen using real-world government provided import/export data and industries placed reflecting major real-world company names and locations.

[h]This is a clean re-uploaded version of my initial release, we had some issues with mods being enabled. This map requires No Mods[/h]

    Enjoy!

Good news, 2.0 on the huge 1:6 scale done! Can be found here https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2117333374

Update: Decided to go with a full size map on the Huge scale. Shaping up well with balancing both city spacing and terrain detail. Very eager to release it, however, it will be at least a couple more weeks. Just finished up city placement and nearing completion fixing water depth/shorelines. After that is the long pain staking process of industry placement and beautifying the map.

I'm a fan of the blend of playability but also the somewhat realistic placement of cities. Personally I'll take a less accurate map that plays well vs a highly accurate one that might not run as nicely.

Hello all, have began work on NEC 2.0 I'm finding that the Huge or Mega 1:5 ratio maps seems to most best fit the map play-ability...

However, I'm also finding the map detail just isn't fully there. Manhattan couldn't really fit a train station on it in the map for DC all the way to Boston. In the interest or detail and realism I'm considering splitting the maps in two halves NEC West Half: Washington DC - New York and NEC East Half: New York - Boston. Splitting the map would also allow me to incorporate things like the limited NJT and LIRR systems and more realistic detail while still maintaining mapscale. Also worth noting the full map DC to Boston version of the map would only allow me to feature the Accela cities only along the route.

What would you prefer? Please let me know and feel free to discuss in the comments below.

Yeah the map looked super naked and weird without trees, I even made a few passes with the eraser of a majority of the map. That the hard part though of map making is finding the balance.

for context marias pass ran great until I massively overexpanded all the cities lol.

in response to your apr 26 commend, captain, will you be making an effort for it to be somewhat playable? Over-foresting a map can make it a nightmare for those of us with decent PCs that aren't 2080tis

Hello all,

Currently working on a new map. However, this map needs to be revamped as I've finally got down a good work flow on my map building processes. I am planning on doing a NEC 2.0 megalomatic highly detailed map (see my Marias Pass map as an example) next.

It's a really nice map, but painfully small.
