ABOUT
This is a light version, with white numbers. The original, with dark numbers is HERE.

Cell Numbering is one of my mods I created a long time ago but now I decided to share it with the community.
It's a very simple mod that lets you put numbers on the floor so you can number the cells.

This modification is obviously just cosmetic however it gives you a few advantages with the main one being better management. That's why I created it in the first place anyways.

How you may ask?
Normally, when you use confidential informants you can search 3-5 places before they get exposed. You can cheat a little bit by remembering where the contraband is and search those places after sending the informant back, not risking him being exposed.
With cell numbers it's way easier. All you have to do is remember or note the cell numbers. I personally note the cells numbers so I can see later on which numbers repeat the most and which prisoners are the most "problematic".

This should work very well with manual cell assignment which has been fixed in the recent update "The Sneezer".
(For those who don't know, you can select a prisoner and right-click on the cell you want him to be in.)

HOW IT WORKS
This mod adds numbers from 0 to 9. Each of these numbers have 3 variants (types):
  • Left digit
  • Middle digit
  • and the right digit
To create a 3-digit number, let's say 512 you need to place 3 numbers - 5, 1 and 2 on the same spot. First is 5, so you will need first variant (type) of number 5. Second is 1. You will need a second variant of 1. And the last one is 2 - you gotta pick the last type of 2.

I know it may sound very complicated but take a look down here, install the mod and experiment by yourself or check out the video of me placing them.

@ГΣΣD -- Thanks for the quick reply. So I can't use light, let's say, in protective custody where there's a dark floor and use dark in minimum security where there's a light floor. I can only use one in-game at a time? I just want to make sure I understand correctly. :smileyflag:

As for your future features, I'm excited to see what you can do. I hadn't really thought about the outline around the numbers, but that would like really nice.

@LemonsterOG You can subscribe to both but you can't use two (dark and light) at the same time. I could make it so it is possible but that would add every number 6 times and that's too much. I was lookin for a better way of doing this mod but uhh. This is the best I could come up with if I wanted to support rotating the numbers etc.

The way it is done is to support switching between both without the numbers you already placed being removed.
I plan to update the mod and making it so the numbers have some kind of outline around them for better contrast with the flooring. I will probably do it when the game recieves an update (which shoudl happen soon).

Also I will add a small addon which will be optional, that adds a few first letters (from A - H for example) that can be placed instead of the last digit.

This seems like a very stupid question, but I assume I can subscribe to both the light and dark versions at the same time for flexibility in different areas with lighter/darker flooring. Am I correct?

I mean it sounds interesting, but my half finished prison i'm building right now already has 800 cells, so im not going to declare the cell numbers one by one...

The manual installation worked.
And for the alternative version, I guess there is a way to add buttons in the object's menu like murgh did to change the object's texture, but I don't know hard it is to add.
Anyway, there is no need for a vertical version.

@TheBlueChocolate Did you manage to get it to work? The dark version is the main one btw.
Also about your idea - yeah - that would be possible to do but the thing is that I would have to ad another set on numbers and that's just too many.
I could probably make it as an alternative version, another one but I dunno if it's really needed.

Also, it's a good mod idea. The only suggestion I have is to add a vertical reading (I don't know how you say it in english) But it would add at least 40 objects (20 for the left side, 20 for the right side, as the last ten are already in the mod)

I don't know why, but I had to install the mod manually because I couldn't see it in the mod list even though the mod was successfully installed in my mod folder. (I haven't tried with the dark numbers)

Yeah, this is something I was thinking about too - It could get messy if you make a big mod that adds a lil bit of everything. I think it could be still done right, got some ideas but ehh. They could make it so it's optional as well.
