There is, it is called "Tool Shake", and is found in world advanced settings (or there abouts)

$MODDIR$/Data/CubeBlocks_Tools.sbc
SensorRadius = The Primary (Mining) Radius
CutOutRadius = The Secondary (Destroy) Radius
**Offset = How far away from the drill to project the sphere to be cut or destroyed
The vanilla (original) values can be located in $STEAMDIR$\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers\Content\Data\CubeBlocks\CubeBlocks_Tools.sbc
While the change can be made easily, it's not something I would use, so not really something I would publish/maintain. You can easily change the mod or create your own and change SensorRadius to a value you desire.
I have made no changes to the in game icons. All i changed was the scan radius (the working radius), and the offset of the drills. If something isn't working, kindly check your load order in case another mod is overwriting my change.
