Something Volvo never did (or not officially), the D16K 750hp 16-liter engine for the VNL. In fact the latest VNLs don't come with the 16-liter at all, they use the Cummins X15 instead. The 750hp F16 was intended as a heavy long haul tractor which could pull all day at legal max speed, uphill or down dale and now you can have that in your VNL! The D16K makes its peak torque between 950 and 1400 rpm so you should aim to keep the revs right there in the green band on the rev counter.

It comes with the correct uprated i-shift transmission to handle the 3550 Nm torque (a bit over 2600 lb-ft) using a 3.08 rear end which gives you 55 mph at about 1100 rpm, 65 at about 1250.
The transmission is also specced with the optional crawler gears, forward and reverse, so hauling heavy loads is no problem depsite the high axle ratio. This is an automated transmission so you should set the game option for "sequential" and remember to define controls for "shift up", "shift down", "shift to neutral", the shift hints and auto toggle. Auto mode will keep the revs between about 1000 and 1600 automatically, you can toggle it on the move to manually shift up and down or hold a low gear. If you really want to use clutch and H shifter, since there are 13 gears, the EF-13 shifter pattern will work.
