Can you slalom between the mountains in the Barren Expanse faster than any real-life land vehicle has ever gone? Or will you explode on a mountain face? It's built decently sturdy, but Besiege doesn't care about that at these speeds!
You could remove most drag-having blocks, use Object Explorer (mod) to disable the boundaries, and then scale up the ground to see which speeds your PC can handle. On mine, the craft often explodes quickly after passing 8000 km/h.

You can drop down from any height (after fooling around on the walls perhaps?), due to it having predictable behavior in the air. Calling it full aerial control is a bit much, just look at the video to judge for yourself. Note: You can't get on the walls undamaged if you start on the ground. Sadly there's nothing I could do about it that wouldn't completely ruin the performance in other areas.

Want full aerial control? Take to the skies with this fast, stable gyrodyne (compound heli)! Recommended for beginners to learn flying, and for experts to break some records on racing maps, especially those with timescale restrictions.

Built for some "ubersled" (basically extreme hovercraft, but in Besiege so sleds is the way to go) racing we did in the Besiege Bots Discord. The main goal became being able to steer a good acceleration, high top-speed sled around corners quickly. In focusing on that, I made my favourite vehicle to explore the ground in the Barren Expanse. I had a rock hopper to explore the mountains, but that felt too slow for the massive stretches of flat ground you find in the BE. You could play around with that if you want to jump on some mountains after you crashed into one too many!

Full vanilla creation: No mods used to build, no mods needed to play.

Whoops! Was gonna give the 22.845 as well (angle of lift vector, but this doesn't take drag into account), but edited the message incorrectly.

@custoberus, propeller's force vector is at an angle of 22.06876. So if you rotate props to be around that angle, they will have no drag. The setup in this craft has a little drag, for better acceleration. You can experiment with this easily if you have Advanced Building Tools enabled. (In main menu settings or the drawing compass symbol in settings while in a level)

how were you able to get so much thrust off of your main engines? I've spent some time trying to figure out how they work but the propellers I put down only create a tiny amount of thrust.
