Designed specifically for REALISTIC SURVIVAL, Naked Truth provides what I've determined to be a minimum usable configuration for achieving planetary-to-space travel when playing survival and ALL settings are set to "realistic". "Why do I need this?", you ask. Similar in purpose as with the Uranium Express, this ship provides a means to get to space primarily for the purpose of gathering materials available only off-planet such as platinum and uranium for use at the planet's facilities.

With an empty mass of 19,968 kg, and a maximum ascent/descent mass of 65,000 kg, Naked Truth has been thoroughly tested to achieve zero-g space, including the fuel to bring the ship to a standstill, when starting from an Earth-like planet using only the hydrogen available in the tank; reserve ice was not used for proof-of-concept testing. Power is provided by up to 4 hydrogen engines, turned on or off as needed; no batteries or reactors are used.

Naked Truth is built using only 43 blocks with a resulting 935 PCU. No unnecessary blocks (e.g., armor blocks) are used in the construction in an effort to highly optimize the design. The balance of 8 atmospheric thrusters and 9 hydrogen thrusters (4 "up" thrusters) provide the necessary boost to get the ship to space and minimize hydrogen usage when performing planetary flight. Components were optimally chosen to provide a space-capable design with the minimum number of components and parts, as summarized in the following lists:

The cockpit controls have been optimized for minimizing hydrogen gas consumption. At maximum gross weight, the player will need to engage all atmospheric thrusters [3] and all hydrogen thrusters [9]. The following paragraphs discuss the process for getting to space when carrying maximum gross weight.

The ship will reach maximum speed before the atmospheric thrusters begin to lose their effectiveness. As the ship continues to ascend, switch to the next cockpit screen and turn off the first hydrogen engine when the required power drops below 75%, turn off the second hydrogen engine when the power drops below 67%, and turn off the third hydrogen engine when the power drops below 50%; one hydrogen engine will always need to remain operating to provide power.

The ship will continue to slow down until the effect of planetary gravity is approximately 0.6g, then begin accelerating again. When the ship reaches maximum speed again, begin switch off the "up" thrusters one-by-one using keys [6], [7], and [8] on the first cockpit screen; you will need an operational thruster in each of the six cardinal directions, so leave [5] operational. You should hit zero-g before your hydrogen runs out. My final recommendation: ALWAYS carry spare ice or you'll be searching asteroids for it.

This is a really old design that I haven't thought about for quite some time, mostly because I've replaced it with much more capable designs. But it worked well then to get me to space with enough components to establish an off-world base for processing uranium and platinum.

Maybe he was looking at the numbers for the large Grid hydro engines? Either way, Lovely design.. Ill be using one, or more of these, too ;)

I don't know where you get your numbers, but I played using all "realistic" settings to get the lowest available fuel capacity and was able to get to space easily. Five seconds? Yeah, no. I'm not sure what you're doing.
