The newest version of Space Engineers requires new strategies. Uranium still provides the highest energy density for vehicles, ships, and installations. The Uranium Express is designed to be operated by a planetary facility for the express purpose of going to the source...space...to locate, mine, and refine uranium into ingots, then return it back to the planet for use. By refining the ore in space, the efficiency of returning to the planetary facility is greatly optimized.

Configured with hydrogen thrusters and supplemented with an atmospheric thruster boost, Uranium Express has two large cargo containers and four medium cargo containers for carrying the necessary parts to space to establish a remote uranium refining facility. If the blueprint is pasted in creative mode, two of the four medium cargo containers will have 2,104 steel plates, 34 metal grids, 40 interior plates, 502 construction components, 60 motors, 20 large steel tubes, 100 small steel tubes, 250 computers, 12 displays, 96 girders, 32 bulletproof glass, 80 superconductors, 256 solar cells, and 80 power cells for the purpose of building the remote refinery facility with 10 light armor blocks, 1 small cargo container, 1 advanced refinery with 4 yield modules, 1 advanced assembler, 1 battery, and 8 solar panels. Further ore gathering, refining, and assembling will allow the player to expand the facility and its capabilities.

Uranium Express provides a safe working environment for the ascent phase, search for ore, the refining process, and the descent phase. The ship is battery operated with four small reactors and two solar panels for supplemental power.

The drill arms are enhanced with large connectors and conveyor sorters to collect only ore (and ice) and reject stone.

Stats: 427 blocks, 4,120 PCU, and the maximum gross weight for escaping a 1g gravity well should not exceed 250,000 kg. If desired to conserve hydrogen fuel, one bank of three hydrogen "up" thusters can be turned off at an altitude of 13,000 meters, and the second bank of three hydrogen "up" thusters can be turned off at an altitude of 20,000 meters; these altitudes are based on an ascent at maximum gross weight and have been thoroughly tested with 3-3-3 survival play. (NOTE: I was not able to succeed when the Blocks Inventory Size is set to "Realistic", i.e., the default setting.)
