I've never noticed any branches in the place of swords? Could be an overwriting mod that changes the look of the bastard sword, or it could just be that the bastard sword is a weird looking sword in this game

Only other weapons in the map are the regular one handed swords and a spear

Well, there's still a high skill ending, that's why I made sure it wasn't impossible...

Skill is rewarded, but canonically, yes.

It's not technically a spoiler, the ending was the whole theme of the Map Jam it was part of
