2. Getting used to it may slightly ruin your thoughts when going back to vanilla. Since the game a has very specific feel, it feels best to getting used to the vanilla games because that's also how almost every other mod and map also uses in mind (depending on).
While it is quite fun and nice to see the increased power and firing speed stuff on all the weapons and whatnot, the problem then because when you do eventually go back to vanilla, the "slower pacing" may feel of to you since you became so used to the faster pacing that depending on, you may not want to play Serious Sam without the rpg mod.
Though on the other hand it might a divisive topic in it self.
