It can only be constantly on or off. How the game engine works is it reads the entries for the placement size, and the alt-size, as it launches and is then locked in for that game session. The mining size that can be adjusted by the FU Tricorder is a completely different thing.

I wanted the placement size to be adjustable too, but once I found it it was simple impossible to do, these mods were the work-around I came up with.

Can this mod be turned on and off in game, or is it just constantly on? Can it be adjusted at all? It would be awesome, as someone mentioned below, if it worked along with the Frackin Universe's Tricorder, similar to how the matter manipulator does.

I had that idea too, in fact I had an FU dev look into it.

These mods came about after they informed me that changing the placement size after launching the game was outright impossible. In fact I had them double check my work while making these mods to ensure I did them correctly.

Not that it's impressive though, these are the simplest mods that can possibly exist on the Starbound Workshop. They only change a single number in one config file and nothing else.

I have the best Idea, so the personal tricorder from FU is able to change the matter manipulator's mining area. So you would be able to change the block placement with a different type tricorder thing.

I was amused enough to make the 50x50. It's hilarious, if almost entirely useless if not actively hindering to use..

50x50 would be unreasonable and would cover up most of the screen (though its usefull for hallowing out into a house
