TL;DR: Try the game. Prepare for the game to be quite difficult at first. Prepare to sink time into it to become decent at it. If you enjoy it after that point, consider sticking around.

My last review of this game was on December 26th, 2018, and I had nearly 3,000 hours on Steam. After nearly 10,000 hours on Steam, a lot has changed since then.

War Thunder is definitely up there in terms of my favorite games, however it has truly had its serious amounts of UPS & downs for me and the community. I still get asked why I choose to play the game, and I mainly say it's because I enjoy it. I still enjoy getting the rush from getting 8 or 9 or more kills per match. I enjoy being able to gain more interest in different conflicts such as The Cold War, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf Wars, etc., and being able to customize vehicles to look as they did when they served in those wars. The game is far from perfect, but I still enjoy it. That being said: this game has its fair share of issues, ranging from decade-old coding, very unreliable servers during peak hours of gaming globally, and terrible handling of community outrage.

Pros:
-Good, albeit dated customization of vehicles
-2000+ Playable vehicles (tanks, aircraft, ships, helicopters).
-The newer vehicle models, are very high quality and have received nicer, standardized camouflages.
-10 Different Nation's Tech trees to grind
-The games player base has massively grown, since I last reviewed (~120,000 compared to the ~20,000 almost 5 years ago).
-Battle Ratings slowly being decompressed, keep in mind very slowly lol.
-Optional Night Battles
-Recent Roadmap & Economy Changes

Cons:
-Cost of Premium Vehicles and their continual rise in prices.
-Aircraft Lacking Dedicated Enduring Confrontation Mode
-Volumetric Shells & Armor (War Thunder previously did not model shells in any form of size back in the day, and the game was a lot less of a game of chance whether you penetrate or not, not to mention the amount of tanks that had/have issues with overlapping armor plates making the tank impenetrable at certain angles).
-Still a lack of gamemodes, 90% of the gamemodes haven't changed since I first started playing War Thunder back in 2016.
-The community is pretty toxic, with some exceptions
-Quite a big learning curve, especially considering how much has been added to the game over the years.

My previous score of this game was an 8/10, and as I've grown I think my current score would be a solid 7/10.
