So for reference I beat DD1 (main story, could not be bothered to go through the grind for the True ending but I know what it is) before this came out and heard a lot of stories about how the original was. I did get the true ending for this game but couldn't be bothered doing a full 2nd playthrough for anything else (i did try though). Overall I do regret purchasing this, not to say it's 100% bad but I found myself very underwhelmed/bored around halfway through the game.

The enemy variety honestly feels more lacking than the first game, you get superb standouts like the Medusa and (potentially) the Sphinx, but each zone just gets copy pasted enemies you saw from the very start with a slightly different color scheme and stat changes. You do get super cool organic moments as you explore the world, but they do become predictable after a time and honestly I got bored trudging around the vast landscapes.

Speaking of, the map may ironically be too big? I may not agree with the developer's views on fast travel, but I respect them sticking to their guns. Unfortunately for me I just found myself mind numbingly bored when having to constantly walk back and forth when the cart's weren't available (or if i got ambushed and it got destroyed in the crossfire). Sure there's exploration and secrets to be found, but it felt so unrewarding and repetitive most of the time I just stopped caring.

The story in DD1 was average at best, kinda mid. This game's story is far worse and less interesting; enough said.

The game is gorgeous for sure, and I do love getting specific rewards for killing enemies in specific ways (if you know you know) and giving the player OP items but limited uses for epic moments or potential puzzle solving ways. As a wizard main I do feel I lost a lot of flair and variety from the original, but it was still decent fun. Can't comment on most other classes as I couldnt be bothered to grind other classes.

Pawns are still neat, better than the original in most cases, I like how they comment on their master's tactics/preferences/adventures. The dragon plague mechanic is kinda dumb, but easily avoided.

TLDR: Pretty game, feels like a walk back from the OG title and doesn't give a lot in return for what was taken. Maybe grab it on sale if you really want as mindlessly jumping on monsters and hacking away can be fun, especially if u combo with ur pawns.

So there's a lot of discussion around the DLC and some of it I get, I've def experienced performance issues myself albeit not enough to hamper my enjoyment of the DLC now that I've beaten it but that's a valid critique. About the boss difficulty I think there's a bit of expectations vs reality, despite fromsoft's wording that there would be new progression and such I get not fully grasping that and coming in with your endgame build DLC ready; and getting smashed. The DLC more or less puts you in the shoes of stepping out into the first steps in Limgrave again, and you will get your teeth smashed in if you try to bumrush your way through everything in your path.

The fragments mechanic is literally your progression and the DLC practically demands you go and explore to find them, I bounced off many a boss wall until I eventually grabbed enough to go back and beat said bosses; sometimes you also just need to swallow your pride and summon or use ashes or anything, it's in the game for a reason. Now there is definite jank with a couple boss hitboxes for sure, and performance is also a valid critique; I just don't feel calling the DLC "Too Hard" is one of them.

Utter superb game that while staying faithful to its source material of Dungeons and Dragons 5e, makes noticeable changes in certain areas that overall make it a more enjoyable experience in video game format where pure tabletop rules may grind the game down or limit player creativity. The companions are top tier and even the ones I didn't interact with much are still memorable to me to where I remember their names and quest lines pretty vividly; i was so emotionally invested in their journey with me i found myself in tears at parts of the game. The absolute wealth of content provided is worth far more than the asking price, and while there are unfortunate technical issues in certain areas from what I hear, Larian has the track record to prove they'll keep going fixing it until it's perfect. This will def be one of my favorite games of all time, and one i'll cherish forever.

Personally I can't recommend the game in its current state right now, this review comes a fair time after launch and after some patches to fix certain issues/balancing with the game. I pre ordered the game and played on release; the amount of hours I have in the game (48.4 at the time of writing) speaks to how much fun i had with the title. While I know it's been changed now, the main campaign is utterly atrocious with its invasive mechanics and mind numbing realms of chaos mechanics (♥♥♥♥ YOU TZEENTCH RANDOM TELEPORTS), I don't know who thought this was a fun or good idea on the Dev side but it really neutered my enjoymnet of the game after my first play through.

The game can legitimately be enjoyable, I won't pretend I've played every faction to a T or explored every nook and cranny of their tech/lord trees as we all have our own personal tastes; what I did play was fun for a bit, but it wore off very quickly. I think they did a superb job with numerous quality of life changes, but overall the game feels like a lesser package than WH2. You could indeed make the argument that WH2 has had years of DLC to accompany it and I'd agree, but if you compare WH1 to WH2 the quality difference compared to game 2-3 is staggering.

I waited to make this review to give them time to iron out bugs/do balancing, but mostly wait for immortal Empires which is the big pull for the game, today we learned the BETA for it isn't coming out for another 3-6 months which at least to me is mind boggling. WH2 had ME out if i recall within a month or two, on one hand they're trying to make sure everything works smoothly before releasing it, on the other so many issues in game were so blatant I don't know how they weren't found in QA/playtesting/Beta, by the time content creators got their hands on it it wasn't realistic to expect such ingrained issues to be fixed by then. Lord defeat traits being a joke, some skill trees being a lackluster joke in comparison to others, tech trees also on the seesaw between being fun and engaging/a boring almost not noticeable change, hero traits also being neutered from WH2; it's sad.

Overall I think it's an ok game, I'm just very disappointed and I feel bad for getting my friend excited to play it with me only for us to get bored in our co-op campaign within a week. A blunder if i've ever seen one by CA.

You get exactly what you pay for, glorious fanservice. In all honesty 2 full missions that require you to actually WORK for the fanservice (gotta kill all the aces) and to continue means you most likely will have issues getting all the content when you first unlock it. It's a fun little adventure on the side before all hell breaks loose later on.

Decent shooter with light RPG elements, not a Fallout game and has not earned the right to hold that title. Mechanically suberb with no real stability issues (not caused by mods) for me but the neutering of the RPG elements and lack of choices really took the series down for me.

As a major fan of rwby who loves the show to death and pesters my friends relentlessly get into the show, i love the series as a whole. I bought this literally day 1 in early access so i've been there since the start. That being said i was super excited for the full release, so how does the game stack up?

as a 15$ game... its meh, it's decent it's not ungodly awful but i wouldn't say it's "good". as a 25$ game... it's awful and i'd never pay such a price for the content provided, so let's break it down.

-Combat, the core of a hack n slash, in all honesty it feels very lacking in most if not all departments. Most characters just spam 1 combo because it's the best thing they have. a REALLY annoying thing is how every character (friend and foe) has the exact...same...audio lines... for every single combo and attack! you can hear an ursa grunt from being hit like 50 times trying to kill the bastard (same with other Grimm as well as players doing combos).

-Characters, even though the main cast is present, none of the charm is there. There's little to no true interaction between the cast (they literally never address one another outside of being revived and maybe the occasional team attack) and overall come off as bland and boring.

-Music + sound, the music is pretty good, all songs from the show that usually hit at the right time (wish the songs had lyrics though, i do like to sing along). Sound wise like i said most of the sound assets are massively overused and repeat themselves to an insane degree to the point of irritation/frustration.

-Visuals, game look's decent, doesn't blow my mind but it's not bad by any stretch of the imagination (i did hear of some bugs but never witnessed any)

-Story, to be honest it may as well not exist, has some mystery and adventure at the start but becomes very boring and dull halfway through, the villan is very weak (though to be fair nobody in this game is strong in the character department.)

-Misc information, level design is hyper linear (some levels look good aesthetically, others don't). Enemy variety is very very low, (there's an okay amount of enemies but your normally fighting the same 2-3 types en mass depending on the area). When your not fighting Horde A and moving to fight Horde B (literally 98% of this game is horde wave battles) the world just feels empty and hollow.

-Progression, standard 10 levels get a point as you lvl up and put it into 1 of numerous passives only a handful of which you will see and actively use. You keep levels and such through numerous playthroughs but to get more challenges to grind more you need to reset.... why?

-Conclusion, this is nowhere near worth 25 dollars i'm sorry it's just not enough there to justify it. at 15 it's a hard sell unless your a hardcore fan. I know i'm being hard on this but that's because i want RT to learn and grow from this experience to create bigger and better things. We proved we'd support them however we can (this game got greenlit in 1-2 days). I do realize this isn't a triple A title and i don't judge it as such, i judge it as a 25 dollar game and i don't think it's up to par. If i missed anything or you have something to add feel free to drop a comment below and i'll try to answer everyone best i can.

Definately one of my top games of all time, Arcen updates regularly constantly improving the experience. New DLC features are in beta at the time of the review but even now they're worth it adding a wealth of new content to an already highly enjoyable experience. I reccomend watching Totalbiscuit's video on this game to see if you'd like it as it has a very interesting game mechanics.
