The bar for writing in video games has never been set higher. Disco Elysium is brimming with possibilities, choices and consequences at every turn. Despite only ever being in the district of Martinaise, DE weaves a world rich with history, geography, politics, conflicts, and issues of its own. This is the one RPG that I would recommend to everyone. Sure, it is a bit of reading, but it is worth every bit.

The game is the truest adaptation of DnD 5e in videogame format I've seen so far. Aside from the fact that there are only 6 classes (Ranger, Fighter, Paladin, Rogue, Cleric, Wizard), with a 7th one being introduced soon (Sorceror), and limited subclasses from the PHB with some homebrews, the game truly captures DnD combat in a videogame much better than I would have imagined. The reason I keep saying DnD combat instead of just DnD is because of the story.
The story in the game middling at best, nothing to write home about. Yet, I would still recommend this game just because of how mechanically strong it is. Other than the story, the game does a great job with party dialgoues where it does feel like NPCs are talking with the whole party rather than a representative. The party also has a lot of flavourful dialogue depending on the traits selected during character creation. Ultimately, it's just flavour and does not have any real impact in the story aside from a handful of cases.

TL:DR A solid 7/10 recommendation. Limited classes, meh story but great homebrew and amazing D&D combat.

Good game, but Square is just messing with gamers on steam right now. They need to get their ♥♥♥♥ together.

Game is very much undercooked. It is enjoyable, yes, but still a buggy mess nonetheless. I would strongly recommend waiting until the issues are ironed out. By the time that happens, you should be able to pick up the game for a sweet discount. Win win, right?

There is an old man turned tentacle hentai monster eating a trap. He is one of the major bosses. It couldn't get any better.

It is a good game IF it doesn't crash every 15 minutes. DO NOT buy until they fix this. It's nigh unplayable.
