I generally do not like anime, and I especially dislike anime fan culture- I can’t take any of it seriously and find it cringy 99% of the time.

Due to this bias that I am aware of and the fact I know it’s impacted how I view things like the story, dialogue, certain characters…. I won’t comment on any of that. BUT as a game? This is a really great game.

I did have to force myself into it because some anime tropes in the beginning I was just finding way too obnoxious. But once I got over myself with it- I’ve been really enjoying this game in general. Gameplay wise? It’s fantastic, very fluid and fun to get into combat + explore.

If you like anime plus gaming- you’ll really enjoy this. If you’re like me and like gaming but not a fan of anime? Consider getting it on sale at least and giving it a shot.

I’m generally not a huge fan of Metroidvanias games, but I do like this one a lot! Combat is pretty great and level designs are very well thought out. You’ll go through a level and unlock a shortcut or different levels connect in ways that are quite creative.

I think I’m a little over halfway through the game at the time of this review. Story is pretty decent too and I’m trying to get all the collectibles as I make my way through it. One thing I hate about Metroidvanias is that you have to backtrack a lot and come back to an area once you get certain abilities unlocked. For the most part though from what I’ve noticed? You don’t have to go back to too many areas - if at all - when you unlock powers for the sake of the story. I think any backtracking is for optional collectibles like more HP, SP, etc.-

Plus they announced a prequel coming out eventually called Zoopunk that looks really enticing. This developer has a lot of potential and I’m excited for future games and content.

Didn’t grow up with this game but knew about it and was always interested playing it when I was a kid. Finally got around to playing it.

It’s a 2003 game so bear in mind things like save points and wonky resolution. I really enjoy the platforming sections of this game. Early 2000s platforming sections usually age poorly but this game has the pretty fluid movements and platforming sections once you finally get used to the controls.

I’m not a fan of the combat tbh. Lots of button mashing and fighting the camera or controls. You have to perform finisher moves on the enemies or they revive and it’s constant barrage of them. Like the combat moves are cool and you can feel like an absolute bad ass, but it does get frustrating too.

I’m about 3 quarters through. If you like classics or are interested- give it a shot. Especially seeing as it looks like a remake is no longer in the cards. This is a classic worth playing.

Maybe I’m just an emotional person, but this game had me teary eye a few times outside of moments with the cats.

Also, I totally get why cats do… cat things now. Like standing on keyboards or knocking things off ledges…. It is… satisfying.

This remaster slays.

I didn’t grow up on Soul Reaver but I remember seeing the covers when I was a kid. The remaster let me play both games for the first time. Fantastic games.

Just note it’s remaster and not a remake. You can switch between PS1 and modern graphics whenever you want. Game runs extremely well on Steam Deck and I had no crashes. Since it’s a remaster of older games- do know things like save points or no waypoints are the norm.

I don’t have nostalgia painting this with rose tinted glasses… but these games are fantastic. Hope we get more.

The game starts off slow and repetitive at first imo- too many “bail this person out from a restricted area” missions but then it FINALLY opens up after like, level 20 or so. It’s one of the better AC games and quite enjoyable once you get to a certain point. I’m probably only a quarter of the way through the main story, but side content and exploring Egypt is quite fun.

Runs great on the Steam Deck as well.

Code Vein brings an enjoyable combat experience to the Souls-like genre, with a good mix of melee and abilities that keep battles interesting, though some bosses try (and sometimes fail) to copy the iconic Dark Souls formula. Initially, the anime-heavy story and character designs felt off-putting, but the narrative eventually pulled me in with its dark, post-apocalyptic vibe. The eerie visuals create a creepy atmosphere—not something I’d play alone at night! While I didn’t try multiplayer, the AI companions are generally helpful without making things too easy. Surprisingly, the game runs smoothly with no technical issues, and though it’s best suited to a single play through, it’s engaging enough that I’m on my second. Code Vein is a great game!

I was initially hesitant to buy this given the scorching reviews- but glad I did it. Spent probably over 20 hours on this add on.

You get vault schematics and later on- a lot of it can be applied to future settlements. The generators for example can supply over 100 power and they are quiet… I am planning on replacing the loud generators at my other settlements. There is a quest but you can just skip it too by killing the overseer. But engaging in the vault experiments was fun and I didn’t mind the quest. It wasn’t overly long either imo.

There is quite a bit of space underground. I kinda wish they would have given you blueprint suggestions of prebuilt stuff rather than build from scratch just because it probably would have turned out looking nicer. But I’m pleased with my vault layout and the items that came with it.

The negatives are that people really weren’t kidding in these reviews when they said that the lighting sucks. Wow- that’s an understatement. I have lights every few inches because of how aggressive the shadows are otherwise. I also feel like they don’t give you enough settlement size to put everything you want in. I ended up breaking out console commands to alter the size so I could build my “perfect” vault.

I have spent more time in this add on than any other settlement. And it has made me immensely enjoy settlement building and the settlement feature a lot more.

Glad I took a chance on this one.

I have played Rust, DayZ, H1Z1 back when that was alive- and I hated them all. Figured it was the survival genre as a whole I disliked. Not the case with Valheim! I don't feel like I have to constantly baby my character's stats like hunger unlike those other games. I dislike Dark Souls too, but the Dark Souls-like combat in terms of watching your stamina isn't bad and I quite enjoy it. Fun with friends, but also fun to solo as well. I'm not far into my Valheim journey, but this is a game I cannot put down. Life responsibilities? That can wait- Valheim forever!
