Overall a great game to sink some hours into

While I do wish there were more classes and upgrades available right now, it's in early access so I can only wait to see what other classes they add. (Zombie class? Necromancer? wink wink)

Only problem I've had so far is the boss fight with the big fat guy where he can just latch onto you and not let go making certain builds useless. Also screw the guys that slam you into the ground, they can just combo lock you and insta kill you.

I like this game a bunch, I love seeing games experiment with the zombie genre; This War of Mine gameplay combined with a zombie outbreak is just genius. I would love to see a similar scenario story modifiers from This War of Mine like where they had a couple of starting scenarios and eventually had ones with characters from different groups joining up for a different experience. I'm not saying to add kids to the game but something similar would be cool in this one; where that are characters that are just burdens and make resource management a little harder.


Even in its EA state, there is tons to do and explore and if you check out their roadmap, they plan on adding even more! So far, I've found 2 new survivors that I'd never seen before and they're great additions to my group. While I do love this game, no game is without its issues.

The detection system kinda sucks, the infected are consistent but not in a good way. You can be hiding in the background or behind some cover and if the infected stop right where you're hiding while patrolling, they'll detect you almost instantly. Even they don't stop right on you, while walking by, you can hear the detection sound/motif(whatever you wanna call it) go off even if you're supposedly hidden. They also have screamers that alert everyone around you but I did not experience this until my 4th or 5th hour and I don't know if I had just missed chances to see them or they show up when a certain day passed, but an alerted horde is super buggy right now and don't really seem to go back to normal unless you leave and come back from a loading screen.

While the melee combat is in a better state than the demo with the addition of a dodge mechanic, it still leaves me wanting more. The combat is still very simple but has frustrating hit-boxes and hard to tell telegraphs of when to dodge; maybe a counter move would help alleviate the difficulties of combat. Also, if you're trying to take on two zombies coming from two different directions, good luck. The addition of new weapons or at least weapons I never found during the demo is great but having a scalpel or a pair of scissors instantly break after one use is disappointing, even the spiked bat doesn't last long. The longest lasting weapon I've found so far is a sledgehammer but it is not practical for crowded buildings since it's super loud and slow.

Put some sort of visual indicator for throwing bottles, I threw 3-4 into the ceiling because I couldn't tell where it was going

The game is basically a tech demo but the devs are still working on it and plan to still make a narrative game out of it. My biggest complaint which is supposedly going to be fixed in the next update is the guns. I think I've been spoiled by games like Boneworks and Pavlov but the guns do not feel good to use, even the melee weapons don't feel good. I wish I could leave a mixed review on this game because it totally has potential and could become a great game but I can't recommend it in the current state it is in.

For those who don't know, this was the same ip game series that you could play on the phone. While Zombieville USA 2 is prob a better game than this, this is still pretty good. Game is lacking an extraction feature that was in 2 but it has online multiplayer with plenty of characters and weapons to choose from. While it is very one note when playing single-player and the zombies seem to only spawn near you and not around the environment, overall it is a fun trip down memory lane and hope they improve and add more things to this game.

An already great game, idk if you would call it a post void shooter or something along those lines but it gives me that vibe and it's great. I've been following this developer since Against All Odds and I hope with the success of this game they will be able to fund future projects.
