I cannot recommend this now, and might not be able to even if it's polished in the future. I have lost most hope in this company's ability to receive criticism and act on it.

This expansion adds on-foot gameplay that presents itself in three major forms:
Slowly walking around barren planets to scan a few plants or whatnot for a meager amount of money;
Invading a colony or site on a barren planet alone, experiencing mediocre FPS gameplay and repetitve looting;
Participating in skirmishes on a colony on a barren planet with a group of NPC soldiers, fighting another group of NPC soldiers while experiencing mediocre FPS gameplay.

On-foot gameplay is largely circumcised from the main ship-side gameplay, and is extremely uninteresting after the first few hours. The progression systems included in this DLC content also involve an obscene amount of grinding for specific resources that rely on RNG to appear in their designated gathering spots. You will be wasting your time for a marginal payoff, that being the increase in stats for your equipment during on-foot gameplay, making the continued accrewment of resources marginally faster.

The FPS combat was largely unasked for, from what I can tell, and I happen to share the same feeling for it. Furthermore, it is dreadfully unoptimized, and the previously-mentioned soldier gameplay runs like horse manure, even if almost all ship-side gameplay tends to run buttery-smooth on my PC. This expansion is not even available for console purchase yet, even having been released for almost a year.

Much like the payoff in gameplay, Frontier Developments deliver far too little after far too long. This expansion is a stain and a sign.
