If you're thinking about buying this DLC, and haven't played the main game, forget about it, because it'll turn you off from the franchise all together. Why? Because this DLC is H A R D. I've managed to beat it twice, so it doesn't feel nearly as rough now compared to when I first started, but I can tell you, on my first playthrough, it did not hold any punches. By the end of the first level on my first time playing it, I had died several times. Now? I can get past the first level at most dying only once. This DLC is perfect if you are looking to master Doom Eternal because it provides a much needed challenge for those who find the base game far too easy. If you've bought this standalone, with no experience on the base game, you're gonna have your ass served to you.

That being said, this DLC is phenomenal, it's incredibly fun, it provides a much needed challenge to expert players and it is significant of the direction that ID is choosing to take with DOOM. But, and I cannot stress this enough, unless you have mastered the base game of Doom Eternal, then beating the DLC is nothing short of a pipe dream.
