As a huge fan of horror movies, especially cheesy B horror flicks, I found The Quarry capturing that nostalgic, campy vibe. Set at a summer camp, it follows counselors facing supernatural threats, with your decisions shaping the story’s outcome, much like a classic B movie.

Pros

Engaging Story & Characters:
Supermassive Games crafts a gripping narrative that hooks you from the start, blending teen drama, supernatural horror, and campy B movie charm that I adore. The ensemble cast, including stars like David Arquette, Ariel Winter, and Justice Smith, delivers stellar performances, making each counselor feel distinct and relatable, like the quirky archetypes in Sleepaway Camp. Their witty banter, emotional depth, and evolving relationships keep you invested, while the choices matter mechanic adds weight to every decision, letting you shape their fates in thrilling, unpredictable ways. Whether it’s deciding who takes a risky shortcut or who faces the monster, the story feels personal and replayable, perfectly capturing the over the top drama of my favorite B horror flicks.

Atmospheric Visuals & Sound:
Stunning visuals and creepy environments nail the horror thriller vibe, while the sound design heightens tension, perfect for jump scare fans.

Replayability:
Multiple endings and branching paths encourage replays, like rewatching a cult horror flick to uncover new twists.

Cons

Disappointing Werewolf Design:
A major letdown is the werewolves’ appearance they look like they skipped leg day at the fur salon, practically copy pasted from the wendigos in Supermassive’s Until Dawn. Werewolves are supposed to be majestic, fur covered beasts, but these creatures are scrawny, bald, and look like they got lost on their way to a low budget Until Dawn audition. Their lack of iconic werewolf traits like thick, shaggy fur or that classic lupine snarl makes them feel like generic monsters, stripping away the B horror charm I love. It’s a missed opportunity to lean into the campy, hairy werewolf aesthetic that could’ve elevated the scares.

Pacing Issues:
The story slows in the middle, much like some B movies that lose momentum before the big finale, disrupting the thriller’s flow.

Limited Gameplay:
Beyond choices and quick-time events, gameplay feels shallow, similar to the simplistic plots of my beloved B horror movies not always bad, but lacking depth.

Occasional Bugs:
Minor glitches, like animation stutters, can break immersion, though they almost add to the quirky, low budget horror charm

Overall:
The Quarry is a gloriously campy, choice driven romp that’s like a heartfelt fan letter to B horror movies, slathering schlocky, chainsaw kissin fun with slick horror thriller polish. Sure, the werewolves look like they ordered their fur from a sketchy Temu ad run by a shady wendigo drop shipper, seriously, these budget beasts are so hairless they’d get laughed out of a Friday the 13th audition! Still, it’s a gory, gleeful blast for fans like me who worship at the altar of cheesy slashers. I'll make a review soon on my channel.
