Some of you are too young to understand the cultural impact here as this game lit the world on fire back in 2008 and reignited hype for star wars again. During this time all the prequal movies were out for a few years and then nothing after that. Then here comes TFU that was a gritty, dark, mature and morally grey direction for star wars that has never been done before outside of books. It made stars exciting again, it turned the force and jedi skill into something powerful and terrifying. The fact you can throw enemies around, zap them to death, slice AT-STs in half throw grenades back in their face, and beat the ever living hell out of the bosses here, was genuinely exciting. You can tell that LucasArts had so much creativity, passion and drive to push Star Wars forward into a more mature tone to tell its future stories without losing the Star Wars identity. This brought back many people to star wars as it felt such a fresh concept that took advantage of the force in ways not yet explored and as a kid at the time, there was nothing else like it. Even today the game still holds up it is fantastic in what they did here, the combat is good with various movesets, the force is powerful in the right way, the story, while not super deep is enjoyable, and these cutscenes are so well directed, animated and voice acted it felt like a movie. However this game does show its age, you will need to go to pcgamingwiki for fixes as the pc port isn't optimal, there is a 60fps mod, dig into the ini to get resolutions above 1080 as well as other fixes. Even then the lock on system, even when you disable toggle will frustrate you at times as it can be inconsistent with throwing objects in the direction you want and the game detecting what object you are trying to throw. To be fair around this game's development is when the havok physics engine really got its footing, but wasn't perfect. The audio mixing isn't great as the music feels distant from the rest of the audio, you can still hear everything but you will notice its off. And this game's older design will frustrate a lot of people as the knockdown animations you receive when a enemy hits you will take away control from you for a few seconds give other enemies a chance to knock you down again the second you get back up. Bosses are a mixed bag some are really fun some are restricted to blindly swing your lightsaber while any other attack the boss is immune from, and the final boss is confusing, where sometimes your attacks deal damage and some don't without any audio or visual feedback to indicate a reason. I suspect it was rushed coding during the final crunch period of game development. Despite its age and flaws, this is worth experiencing, and it showed the future of star wars before disney bought it out and butchered it
