A moddable skill grinder? YES please!

This is the first game since RuneScape that really scratches that RS-style itch for me. It’s single-player, which means you can play entirely at your own pace, with no pressure from anyone else. Want to casually chop some trees while listening to music? Do it. Want to progress your sorcery so you can finally take down that boss? Then do that.

But here’s the real kicker: it’s moddable. With mods, the possibilities feel endless—cheats if you want a sandbox, custom quests, balance tweaks, and much more. The community is already working on additions, and the dev seems really open to letting the game grow.

It feels like a passion project made for people who loved that old-school grind, but flexible, and future-proofed with mod support. If you’ve ever wished for a single-player RuneScape-like experience where you set the rules, this is it.

10/10 I can’t wait to see how this game evolves.

I’ve always loved games like this, and at first glance I thought Palia would be my new cozy grind game. Unfortunately, everything just feels off. My male character's animations look overly feminine, and there’s no way to adjust that—even with all the clothing options. The main story about magic and ancient humans is interesting, but most of the side stories feel like lessons I didn’t ask for more than engaging narratives.

The difficulty is about what you’d expect from a cozy game, and the multiplayer elements do seem like they could foster cooperation. My final thoughts: with more work—especially better character customization—this game could be great. For now though, it falls short.

I hope this helps some people on the fence, especially those looking to buy the $30 package on day one.

What a great game! I've always had a soft spot for tycoon games, and this scratches that itch. Building an empire, even an illegal one, brings a sense of accomplishment. I can't wait to see new content each month. Keep up the amazing work! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If your machine can run it, this game is exquisite. It sets the standard for modern AAA RPGs imho. The only strange thing I've found so far is all of the (green quality/upgradeable) gear you can get but you'll never use because you'll receive or craft much better soon or even before you unlock the recipe/buy option. However, that's one con amidst the many amazing pros. Graphics - OMG. Combat has difficulty/accessibility options. The story is probably the most in-depth I've seen in a long time, especially if you dig into the maps, relationships, and side quests. It's got it all, and in this genre, it's sure to be GOTY.

I hope this helps some of those that are still on the fence to make the right decision :D

It's hard to believe that after all these years, no one realized how terrible this combat system is. Hit for 19 (yay), then hit 1, 1, 4, 7, 5, 1 (groan, cry, alt-F4)... In OSRS we dealt with it because the numbers weren't very big for a very long time. In this newer gen version where the scaling is different, you need a different approach. Don't get me wrong, It's still a casually fun skill grinder game, but combat, like RS, makes the game tedious. The minimum damage of a weapon with 100 power should never be below 50. 55 hrs and counting on the base game! I really only like the open world mode so everything I'm about to talk about pertains to it.

I'm about 80% sure this is my favorite Open World Crafting Survival game. I've played a lot of them and they just keep getting better.

The Good
Hunting is the primary source of XP and with the projectile-follow-kill-cam I never get bored. To the contrary, I find my self trying to snipe from ridiculous distances just to see if I can.
Building. I love it! It's got some quirks where things don't always fit where you want, but that's fairly standard for these types of games.
Progression. When you're naked and afraid... and alone, the game feels a bit slow, but as you explore and get accustomed to the tools and weapons, everything evens out and the real fun begins. There are so many techs to unlock from the stone age to modern/futuristic. You not only progress through tech stages, you also progress in a rogue-lite way via talents. There are THIRTEEN talent trees! This dropped my jaw a bit. Although you can't max all the talent trees, you can definitely specialize your character in many many different ways.

The Not So Good
There are a few irks here and there being: lack of explanations even when things seem explained in the tooltips, saddles despawn if your mount dies, kill cam sometimes gets stuck for too long (it does fix itself).

Overall
This is a great game with huge worlds, missions, and co-op shenanigans and lots of replayability from talent builds, DLCs, and all those awesome overworld base locations that need to be tried and tested :)

Good story, normal mmo combat, and a shop full of QOL items that should be in the base game. No thanks.

After beating Axiom Verge I was excited to see there was already a sequel to dig my freshly sharpened teeth into. Right away I was impressed with how different the two games were. The drone capabilities alone added so much depth and strategic thinking. Last but not least, AV2's story is much more pronounced which gave it a better feel overall. I'll definitely be adding the AV series to my play again playlist.

Short but oh so sweet. This game is an omage to all of the greatest platformers that came before it. I personally love the amount of weapons and gadgets and the exploration required to find them all. It's not packed with difficulties, but it has a built in speedrun mode that I enjoyed after my first playthrough. Overall, great work. The sequel is also great and a whole new unique adventure.

This game is going to be great. Everything looks so much better than the last time I played.

It's been about a year and despite the graphics upgrades, the performance has gotten far worse. With a 3070 Ti I can only get 30-60 frames, and even though it sometimes says 60 FPS it doesn't feel smooth at all. I decided to walk around some just to see everything I could. I can tell how much work has been done to get Dead Matter to this point, and QI should be proud of the progress. Hopefully that progress continues and we'll have an amazing MP zombie survival game to play for years to come.

Keep up the good work QI!
