On that note it did update itself a few days ago with a small patch (no version change so no update notes in the program) and it still works just fine.
As far as AV goes I use Comodo and have no false positives.
Just to be sure you got the program from either http://www.steamidlemaster.com/ or https://github.com/jshackles/idle_master correct?
P.S. Sorry for the shitty formatting of this little wall of text. Pretty late(early) here on my end :P
The update was only a small change to the code signing certificate that the program uses. Previously the application used a self-signed certificate, and now it uses a trusted 3rd party code signing certificate.
The only difference users should notice is that when downloading and installing the program from the site, it should now say that the application is signed by "Open source developer Jason Shackles".
I updated Steam idler in computer A; Norton gave me an alert about security; no card drops for 3 hours.
I started computer B, I didn't update Steam idler, got card drops as usual (same game as before)
I switched to the portable version and put in some exclusions in my virus guard that deleeted idlemaster. (love how crazy anti virus programs are. While I made exclusions for idle-master I saw that the anti virus program had deleted all steam Xwing exe files + 2 disney exe files. Crappy DRM that we are forced to pay for and than its flagged for virus)
Thanks to the developer for an excellent product. The country I live in 16Mbit is the fastest internet there is. Now I dont have to DL stuff just to get the cards. Valve/Steam should sponsor the developer for all the money Valve/Steam saves on bandwidth.
I have v0.8.0.2 which I think worked OK until yesterday (99%sure)
It does not work since yesterday after the steam store downtime (1-2 days ago steam was down at least for several minutes and nobody couldn access the store).
Now I noticed I do not get drop cards and also Steam does not register the games in iddle master as "played" as it did before.
So perhaps the problem is that Steam has changed something in its serves to make this program stop working.
Anyone has noticed the same or I'm the only one?
P.S: I've tried portable version and run both versions as administrator but it doesn't work.
Update: Portable version is v0.8.0.0 which was working before... Any help? Thanks in advance.
Now, I understand that the update was supposed to be harmless and unrelated to the drop rate, but is it possible that somehow something has happened?
The games showed as "in game" in iddle master does not shown as "played" in my recently played steam page.
I think the problem should be related to steam servers change and not to the program update (older, portable version v0.8.0.0 also doesn't work anymore).
thanks in advance.
Thanks again for the support.
Best regards.
Search for idlemaster.exe in c:/users/<yourusername>/Appdata/Local. Below these directories I think it uses some random directory to store the program.
Also cehack your quarantine programs ion your antivirus program. If there is steam-api.exe iy also must tell you from where has been moved to quarantine.
Mine was: /Users/<myusername>/AppData/Local/Apps/2.0/ANYVQ93A.JRR/5CHJJG0M.G5L/idle...exe_<alotofrandonnumbers>
Hope it helps!
