First of all, we have to define what kind of game “Imperivm III: Great Battles Of Rome” is: Well, we could start by saying that this game is an RTC game, wich stands for “Real Time Conquest”, a subgenre of the already known Genre RTS (Real time strategy). But what’s the main difference? You may ask.

There are tons of differences! Let’s check them out!

What makes this game so unique is the fact that it goes straight to the point:

In imperivm, you do not build, you just conquer what's already built in the map. At the beginning, each player starts with a City of its chosen civilization, and a village; In Imperivm, players can choose between eight totally differentiated civilizations (Imperial Rome, Republican Rome, Gauls, Iberia, Egypt, Carthage, Britain and Germany) and during a game, he can manage to conquer all of these at once.

What really makes the difference between this game and an Age Of Empires, for example, is the fact that AoE, like many RTS games, is based on the “Rock paper shissors” model, the intuitive system that states that a Pike beats a Cavalry unit and a cavalry unit beats an archer.
In Imperivm, things are not that “easy”, each unit has its own special ability and its own level of experience in such a way that unit counters are more based on special abilities than simple patters, but on the same time, thanks to the experience system, the whole combat becomes even more hard to master, since a good player can manage to win 1v3 thanks to his veteran troops, if well-played.
In addition to that, each unit can be attached to a hero, wich will give a part of his experience to his troops, and will share with them his own personal abilities, wich are different for every faction hero.
Now, one interesting thing is there is not an ethnic barrier that forces you to attach only same civs troops to same civs heroes, one can mix up armies from the eight civilizations, creating strong combinations even with weak units, this possibility not only makes the game more vast, it basically multiplies for eight the differences between troops, since the same troop, given to different heroes, gives a different troop each time, so it is like if instead of having 60 completely different units, you have 480 unique troops.

I realize it is easier to explain Imperivm with actual footage, more than with words, so in the end of this announce, i will give several informative videos.
