I assigned some research but when checking a bit later, the research counter was still at 0%. What am i missing? On a related note, I keep running into "low food quality" warnings but the game tells me doubling-up say for example a bakery will not increase food production. I always seem to have the same quantity 3 for the 'sausages' icon. I can match Plebs with each 'trade' that I build but eventually it ends up the same........food production doesn't seem to increase and the food quality warning pops...

The "fail" state seems to be losing four of Caesar's squad. But if I allow even one allied troup to die, I get a Game Over. Any advice or tips?
