Covenant Separatists
"These were the various forces composed of all Sangheili and their followers, who rebelled against the new Covenant leadership during the Great Schism. When the Great Schism broke out on November 3, 2552, the entirety of the Sangheili species were forced out of the Covenant. The High Prophet of Truth had ordered the reformed Covenant military, now led by the Jiralhanae , to massacre the Sangheili. This caused a massive civil war to erupt across Covenant-controlled space.

Though only the Sangheili were forced out, many of their former allies sided with them instead of siding with the High Prophet and his Jiralhanae-led Covenant. Many Unggoy, Mgalekgolo and even one San'Shyuum, joined the separatist effort.

All Sangheili-led groups were against the Covenant led by the High Prophet of Truth and the Jiralhanae, although only the Fleet of Retribution was known to extend their allegiance to the UNSC."

Sesa 'Refumee's heretic faction
“This Sangheili-led faction broke away from the Covenant prior to the Great Schism after learning that the Great Journey was a lie. Monitor Guilty Spark had informed Sesa 'Refumee the true purpose of the Halo Array, resulting in him ordering his forces to cut communications with the Covenant and break away."

Successors
The Silent Shadow
"A division within the Covenant's Special Operations branch. It was made up of several individual squads of special operations Sangheili, typically being swordsmen or adept assassins, though there was at least one San'Shyuum Prelate. Following the Great Schism, the squad was led by First Blade officer Resa 'Azavayl and took it upon themselves to wipe out every Jiralhanae they encountered."

Jul 'Mdama's Covenant
"Simply referred to as “the Covenant” by its followers, was a newly created splinter faction and terrorist organization formed from assets of the former Covenant Empire. Founded and led by Supreme Commander Jul 'Mdama, this faction continued to worship the Forerunners while also rejecting the Prophets for their betrayal, and opposed the Swords of Sanghelios following the end of the Human-Covenant War."

The Swords of Sanghelios
"An alliance of Sangheili keeps and the preeminent governing body on Sanghelios. Individual members of the faction identify themselves with the title Sword of Sanghelios.

Originally an ancient Sangheili order, it was reinstated in the aftermath of the Great Schism by the latest Arbiter and the organization's leader, Thel 'Vadam. However, many Sangheili disagreed with his ideals, planning to overthrow the Arbiter and rise against humanity."

The Banished
"They were formed and led by the Jiralhanae warmaster Atriox after rebelling against the Covenant. The Banished are primarily composed of Jiralhanae and have incorporated Sangheili, humans and more, as Atriox denounced vengeance between species as a petty restriction in the way of gaining rewards and treasures."
