They also make for decent raid thinners with their web traps. Problem there is domesticated spiders are currently somewhat buggy and more trouble than they are actually worth, at least giants and queens.
You would literally be wasting valuable manpower even bothering with the spiders.
Even from a trade perspective the chitin just isn't worth the risk of crippling or outright destroying your raider defense.
TL:DR
Spiders are worthless in every capacity and i was agreeing with you in my first post.
Maybe when you can "Milk" them for their silk it would make more sense to mess with them, but as it stands you're better off leaving them alone. at the very least they might help take care of raiders or keep some of the nastier critters away from your colony.
