About Existing Chars / New Chars
Sorry if thi shas been covered, I want to be clear before I break my game.

A friend and I have been playing without the mod - with established characters and items and quest lines done etc.

I know this mod requires a new char. So if I install the mod and then start a new char, I should be able to fly to the coords of my town and play from there. Will my old char no longer work? Can I safely delete the old character or will that erase world data.

Just want to make sure before I do anything to break our game.

You can take your stuff to some planet first, and leave it there. Take down the coordinates for the new character to fly there. And no deleting your old characters will not erase world data.

I believe the other thread should cover this already, but in any case it also has directions if you would want to convert your old character. If you are comfortable using command line tools you can give it a shot. Pretty easy really. But back up your character data first, then there is no risk.
